mf2004 0 Posted August 31, 2012 So after a quick search it doesn't seem like this has been suggested before:Most guns would not realistically fit in a backpack, having a look at the camping backpack I had lying around anything above 70 cm (just one size I thought would be good but obviously it could move either way) would not really work. That means the only ones that should fit into the backpacks are, according to my quick wikipediaing: SidearmsAKS-74AKS-74UBizon MP5A5These weapons should be possible to fit in to a Backpack taking up different amounts of slots. For other weapons I have two suggestions: (number 1 has already been suggested in nearly this form)1) Make it possible to take a gun apart and store it in backpack with the condition that the barrel length is also less than 70 cm, this means the M107 could not be put in a standard backpack even in pieces, the AS50 would in theory just fit but for the purpose of this idea it would be better if it didn't. It should also take a lot of time to disassemble and assemble a weapon (possibly varying by weapon) on the order of 30 seconds, so that it is not an option to switch in an emergency situation.2) This makes carrying weapons a lot more tedious so to compensate that you could have a slot on the outside of the backpack where you could hang a weapon across the back of it, which looking at my own camping backpack would be quite easy to craft using some string. This could come standard on military backpacks but not on civilian ones.If I've understood correctly crafting is going to be an option in the standalone so this is where the idea becomes interesting. If you have a hunting knife you could cut up a backpack and make it into either a holder for weapons on your other backpack or into one of those harnesses that mean you can drop your weapon and do other stuff but the weapon stays attached (someone else suggested this but I can't seem to find the thread anymore). The harness would not allow you to pick up a second primary or if it does it means you cannot run and only allows you to walk but would allow for quicker switching to a secondary and melee weapons, and makes all other tasks slightly faster because the gun doesn't need to be slung over the shoulder. The holder on the outside should be rated for only a certain weight, meaning the 2 large sniper rifles and the LMGs cannot be hung to your backpack. The LMGs could be taken to pieces and stored within the backpack because their barrels are small enough. The sniper rifles would be disassembled into 2 inventory objects: barrel and other; the main parts would go in the backpack and the barrel would occupy the weapon holder outside the backpack.I think this would make people think twice about which weapons to pick up and make the acquisition of one of the large rifles something mainly a group would consider. If this has been suggested and I missed it I apologise otherwise let me know what you think. belzibhaal 21 Posted August 31, 2012 Not that it matters, but as far as I am aware, the M4 series of rifles (not including the M16 series) all have retractable stocks, which means they could fit in the backpack.
mf2004 0 Posted August 31, 2012 (edited) wiki claims they are 75 cm retracted (all my information comes from wiki so it might not always be 100% correct or even 5% correct for that matter) so they are kind of borderline but the specifics of which guns fit in which category could obviously change. DaGolem 95 Posted August 31, 2012 (edited) I love to see that the Standalone Version makes it possible to carry two main weapons but if u do this u getting faster thirsty. And a quikly Weapon Change...the Weapon Change now sucks as hell. I Understand if the Weapon is in the Backpack that it takes time, but nobody carry´s a main Weapon in the Backpack! It Would be very nice if u can found gun belt & Rifle belt.1.Gun belt in two waysOne that take only one gun and another version that can take two Handguns2.Rifle beltU can found a Rifle/Shootgun/Sniper belt so u can carry one additional main weapon Edited August 31, 2012 by DaGolem
mf2004 0 Posted August 31, 2012 Strapping the rifle to the pack is effectively what the holder would be but to make it a bit more difficult to get I thought it would be good to only make it possible with the military packs or by crafting it onto the civilian packs.
