So this is wierd. i logged in today and in addition to my 1 note on my map several was gone and several was added, including a location where i found a wheel yesterday and some guy had marked off the NWAF with the caption "come here, i want to kill you"

the map is used by everyone, if you put a note on it everyone can see it.

Don't worry. Markers made on a players map are shown to everyone else. It's a bug left over from Arma that allowed teams to communicate.

I like to mark the middle of cherno with stuff like "HERE BE DRAGONS" or "Private Property. Any shots fired are NOT warning shots", so on and so forth.

i think it's fantastic when you get a few notes up, good little read while riding shotgun in a vehicle.

Example: "This is the NW airfield" then underneath "No Shit Sherlock"

"Im going to kill you", replied with "Nope you missed, now your dead lol"

Found myself having a good few giggles at what people scribble down on the maps, and the slightly newer players who STILL put their base camps down on the map... silly beans!

You can add map markers from the map screen before the game starts - as in the server restarts and u click ok, it takes u to the briefing screen were u need to click ok again to join the server. At this map you can write and it will show on the map in game.

As most comms are disabled, once in game nobody should see ur map markers unless they meet the following;

Direct Chat - they have to be in range for them to show up

Vehicle Chat - they have to be in the vehicle

Group - they must be in ur group (which u can't do right now though would be helpful)

Some of the stuff you see in there is pretty funny. I mostly just use it to help players by marking out anything of value to them that I cant use like heli crash sites.

I like to put markers on shared maps with the caption "treasue", "great loot" and "secret". It always attracts a lot of attention, and I always get a lot of kills.

When I find a random camp and I don't take everything (which is often, considering how much shit people leave in their tents), I mark them on the map.

A few of my sniper friends do this on populated servers. they'll load a tent with empty cans, take the high ground and just wait.

I've gone with them to observe.
