Tonacriid 1 Posted August 30, 2012 I run a 5942x1080 setup. Powering it are two gtx 680's, a six core cpu clocked at 4.1ghz, 16 gigs of ram etc. I got plenty of power in my pc.I have 3 1920x1080p screens all same model ( my total res of 5942 accounts for bezal correction). When i tun Dayz i have all settings at full and set my res to 5942x1080 in windowed mode. Due to nvidia being stupid and not doing product testing before releasing their productsif u run two 680's in surround on a AMD 990 chipset u have to do so in windowed mode (which runs fine) because if u run full screen u get 5-7fps max no matter what game u play. The problem is when i got to play it downsizes my resolution to 50% rather than stay at 100%. While it runs fine with it at 100% as soon as i exit the settings menu it downsizes me.I have the FOV correctly set and sometimes i can get the resolution to work while playing sometimes but only for a few min then it downsizes me again back to 50%.I get 30+ fps when playing at 100% in city with alot going on so its not a performance issue from my hardwares power.I have tryed using the config file to force my resolution but it keeps reverting back ingame and ignoring the config file.I know not many people have three monitor setup and havent experianced this problem but im hoping atleast a few of u have. Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted August 30, 2012 Just a thought, you should put "3 monitor setup" in your title to attract the right people.
Cinnabuns 45 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) I think "surround" covers it to those who have surround setups, honestly.Playing at 5916x1200 here on 3x 1920x1200 monitors w/2x 570GTXs and have no issues at all. Of course I'm not running on an AMD chipset, nor would I with Nvidia cards but there you go.My fps fullscreen are between 40 and up with AA 2x and everything on very high so I feel for you man, with what you have invested in your rig. Let me guess, you're an Nvidia convert and you used to have an Eyefinity setup on that chipset? In the future, Intel works well with either... they have to. I've always been an Nvidia guy. Not a fanboy cause the hardware is comparable with AMD or Nvidia. Its just that to use hardware, you have to have drivers and Nvidia unfortunately or fortunately has always been on top of their game/driver issues, at least more so than AMD. That's the only reason. Some iterations I with Nvidia would make drivers for AMD/ATi hardware cause their hardware has been superior but the consumer is almost always going to loose out on the driver side with bugs/glitches/etc.I'm aware I'm speaking about their video card and not their chipset however I've owned AMD chipset boards in the past and for some reason there were also driver issues here and there. Go figure! Not had any issues since switching to Intel chipsets though so I stick with them.Honestly I'd say ditch that AMD chipset and get a different mainboard that's Nvidia friendly. Running a Gigabyte UD7 p67 chipset here with cpu @4.6Ghz under water cooling and no issues at all. Edited August 30, 2012 by Cinnabuns
Tonacriid 1 Posted August 30, 2012 I was a Nvidia fan before AMD bought out ATI and being a AMD fan i was quite screwed when it took place lol.Id go Intel just dont have the extra cash at the moment, so im trying to make do with that i have and i just pisses me off that Nvidia doesnt test their cards for half of the cpu market but thats besides the point.Down sizing of my resolution is only in Dayz and its driving me crazy i need to find a way to stop it from wanting to change my applyed settings in the menu or config file. It is the only game to do so that ive seen. And i hope more dont follow its path because computers dont always chose correctly.
Knight2000 (DayZ) 35 Posted August 30, 2012 Well he did use the correct term tho. Thats how Nvidia calls it, Nvidia Surround. Now regarding the issue sigh.... if you were going to run Nvidia the right choice would have been Intel all the way no questions asked. Now its possible its not a driver issue with teh video card and more of an issue with Arma 2 itself. Do you know if Arma 2 will run on Nv Surround?I reccomend you to check https://www.wsgf.org/ and see if other people have run into your issue. Thats all i can do for you bud.Good luck. Tonacriid 1 Posted August 30, 2012 Arma 2 works great in surround, FOV is spot on, and with the use of Windows boardless gaming app i use that turns reg windows in windows fullscreen so no boarders it workes extreamly well save this downsizing of resolution problem. Cinnabuns 45 Posted September 6, 2012 (edited) I'd be more apt to think its an AMD chipset (or lack there of) driver issue, NOT an AMD CPU issue. What are your motherboard drivers for your motherboard chipset? Did you accept Windows 7 default drivers or did you install an AMD chipset package over those? If you have Windows 7 default OS drivers for your chipset, see if there's an AMD chipset driver package for your board and install those and test the game.If you have AMD drivers installed off your motherboard disk (UPDATE THEM from the official site) OR try Uninstalling them and letting Windows 7 install its default drivers, then test the game that way.Give that a shot and let us know. quickfix 0 Posted March 26, 2014 I'm running three Qnix 2710's in Nvidia surround at 7680x1440. Was working great in DayZ until I otimized with Geforce Experience. Now when I start DayZ, the config does not list my native resolution of 7680x1440 at all. Just got the game yesterday and now it's screwed up. Any ideas?
