crcantos@gmail.com 7 Posted August 29, 2012 When journals are implemented, I think it would be a great layer of the game to auto mark gps coordinates in your journal whenever you place a tent. Therefore, when you kill someone you get all his tent loot if he had any. It creates a 'mission' for bandits (with a reward at the end) and eliminates the ability for players to exploit those tents by becoming 'gear immortal'.Everybody wins.
KnT47r 51 Posted August 29, 2012 I don't actually mind this concept, but not sure how it could be done considering tents are server specific.Would be a good feature to see if DayZ goes the way of the EVE online server cluster though.
IncognitoNico 71 Posted August 29, 2012 it would be nice if there would be a way of doing that, but not the exact coordinates, maybe only put the coordinates if you have a gps, maybe put the zone that it is in
Baralai 14 Posted August 29, 2012 This is actually a really good idea. As said, it would be hard to completely implement due to different servers. Only way around it would be for the journal to keep track of server IP's as well as the coordinates (considering they had a GPS or map on them at the time of placing at least). crcantos@gmail.com 7 Posted August 30, 2012 I'm sure it would be easy enough to write a script and dig up player gps data from the server. It just requires serverside recognition to a clientside command. Same could be true for the server name.
KnT47r 51 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) Thinking further on this;1. It shouldn't be exact co-ords, but the area reference. ie instead of 518 012 it should say something like 51x 01x so the person would have to search the whole area2. Only tents placed in the lifetime of that character should be recorded. So if I place a tent in life 1, get killed by player A, spawn in Electro and get sniped instantly by player B, only player A gets the info3. The player (player B ) that loots the journal (from player A) has the tent info transferred to their journal, so when they get killed by player C, player C gets both player A and player B tent info. This would make some epic tent warefare scenarios Edited August 30, 2012 by KnT47r
P2J2 8 Posted August 30, 2012 This is a terrible idea because you want it to be an automatic game mechanic. Things like this should definitely be an option for players to use in whatever way they want. It would be great to find used maps and GPS's in the game with the previous owners markers and info saved on them. I'm all for that but having it forced on you automatically is not cool.
USMCDADY 3 Posted August 30, 2012 I think it would be a great idea except that it would promote playerkilling to a massive proportion just so people could get loot. Otherwise amazing concept.
Faceman Peck 93 Posted August 30, 2012 you would have to loot said gps to get the coordinates, no?
