hishnik 23 Posted June 11, 2012 So after having done some due diligence, and making sure as far as i could tell this hasnt been brought up yet, here i go.As it stands right now, 'Heatpack' is a magical item that brings your body temperature to the 42C from any temperature under a second. What i wanted to suggest, is rename the item, and change the properties. Have the item be called "Emergency Survival/Heat Blanket" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_blanket ). And instead of immediate result, have it take a second per every degree of temperature restored. I would even say it should gimp your movement, not make you completely immobile, but say running cancels it, so does aiming a gun. In full on rain - temperature doesnt go up, nor does it go down. The reason i'm suggesting this, is because as it stands right now, survivors really have no need to sit around camp fire or anywhere really. They can and are, constantly on the move. Any thoughts?
scoffield77@gmail.com 192 Posted June 11, 2012 I go camping all the time, Space blankets are awesome! for when you're freezing, they also act as a signal since it's reflective. Through Idk how this would work in the game, Idk if the engine can handle something that is that reflective

TOPMO3 119 Posted July 13, 2012 I like the idea. I think the heatpack basically made the campfire heat recovery mechanic completely useless. Either make the heatpack restore your heat over time like the blanket idea, or make it so you have to be immobile while you're using it. Imagine the bandage animation but continuous until the body reaches 42C. If you move or cancel out before hand, pack is lost, and temperature gain is halted. It remains as high as it got to before you cancelled it.
DayZPvP.com 143 Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) I like the idea too, but I am pretty sure there are non-reflective versions although we are all familliar with the shiny ones. What about just a wool blanket you could carry around? Maybe on the tool belt?I have never used a heatpack, I didn't know it was instant, thanks. I just always used a fire (only had to a few times). It's still faster/safer than your regular fireplace, but is somewhat unsafe.

GeordieMarv 293 Posted July 20, 2012 I never really use the heatpacks. Mainly because they take up an inventory slot.Used one once or twice, but that's about it. This is just me though, i appreciate that others may love the heatpack/blanket idea.
