Parallel Universe Travel Suggestions

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry if this has been brought up before, I couldn't find anything relating to this so if any of you have seen something similar please leave a link and I'll put it in this post for others.

At first I thought it was cool that you were able to leave a game at one position and spawn in the same position in that exact same spot. If you logged out in a safe area, the odds were that it would also be safe in a different server.

Then I started to notice all the people that take advantage of that ability and abuse it. Usually with camps or vehicles and especially with the sniper hills in Elektro. It gets annoying after a while and I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks so.

The suggestion I have for this problem is to make the player save locations specific to that server, and if the player changes servers then the game will reset the position and spawn them at the nearest town or city. Elektro snipers now spawn inside Elektro, players can no longer go to your camp position in another server and spawn directly into your camp, players can no longer server hop for airfield looting and some vehicle spawns.

Example:

Player disconnects from server 1; position A saved

Player reconnects to server 1; position A loaded

Player connects to server 2; spawns near city/town closest to position A

Player disconnects from server 2; position B saved

Player reconnects back to server 1; spawns near city/town closest to position B

This is just something that came to me while driving back from work at 10:30 at night while my mind was off in lala land so obviously this isn't perfect but I feel like it's a good start. Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks,

StroupBSlayen

I really like this. And there's some precedent to this. When I've involuntarily disconnected due to lag/ping in the middle of a city or while being attacked, I've been booted to a previously saved position outside of the city. SImple and effective stopgap to solving server hopping.

I like anything that deals with ghosting and hopping, but I see a couple issues with your mechanic. I would also like to see a more elaborate solution based on travel as it wouldnt allow players to escape at all.

How long before people know where all spawn positions in or near cities or locations are at?

How long before these are simply camped to hell by people?

People will also be able to abuse this to fast travel, get closer to city b, log onto other server be in city b.

I'm sure some people will camp certain towns, mainly Cherno and Elektro, but there are so many other cities and towns that almost nobody goes too.

To prevent the camp-die-lose gear cycle I guess there could be an option to spawn with saved gear or spawn with nothing like an original survivor (to sort of test the water) and when you log out you will have to option to overwright the saved loadout with your new loadout or lose everything you collect on the new server.

Opinions?

People will also be able to abuse this to fast travel, get closer to city b, log onto other server be in city b.

If they want to take the risk and spawn in a location where they have no idea is safe or not then that should be their decision. There's also the chance that they were closer to a different town and end up spawning in the town 500m behind them or in some other direction that they did not want to go.

Get ready OP, I foresee a torrent of red herrings and abuse coming from the hacks, exploiters and teenage sniper queens. They won't be happy that you tried to bring them back onto the level playing field.

You have my support. Thumbs up.
