Spawn at Nearest Hospital

Recommended Posts

Like with many zombie movies, why not spawn at the nearest hospital than always at the beach. That way it isn't as much of a loss because at least you are nearer to your stuff. This will even out gameplay a bit so that not everyone is always at cherno or elektro.

A lot of players have mentioned to have a bunch of starting point / spawns that are sort of an intro to the game. So depending on where you start that would cause you to have different gear, and some say a different intro video. So maybe not just a hospital?

I really could care less for any sort of intro, but wouldn't mind a bunch of spawn points all over the map!

The problem with this is having someone with an LMG sitting just outside the hospital and mowing everyone down when they spawn in. But I agree RE the point of having more varied, interesting spawn points

The idea is that you washed up on the coast...

How do you explain someone magically appearing inland? Lol.

Yeah, the poster above makes sense, because no one would like LIVE in Cheranus before the outbreak. God, I'm pretty sure you couldn't even get a flight there from other countries, you had to wash up on the shore if you wanted to visit.

Why don't you ask the producers of so many zombie movies how the player wakes up in a hospital. How do you explain someone magically appearing on the coast?

You washed up on the coast, maybe from a shipwreck or something. That's the reason why you have such menial supplies...

If you lived in Chernaraus you wouldn't leave your house with only an empty backpack, a bandage and painkillers, would you? Think before you flame please, guys. Jeeze...

As far as I'm aware, the only hospital NOT in Cherno or Elektro is the one in Berezino. Spawning in hospitals would concentrate MORE players into the city and bandits would just be farming them, Plus, looting the hospital would be a bit of a pain if you constantly had newbies spawning an inch away from you.

So this doesn't already happen at beaches... it does.

Thing is... there are almost 30km of coast line, much of it isolated.

There are what, 3, maybe 4 hospitals in game? Far easier to concentrate on.

The point was about hospitals. Easy explanation is you've been in coma for couple of weeks like 28 days later or Wlking dead. And of course the gear you had would be determined by your spawn point. You spawn in hospital, only having some thin sheet covering your body with no gear (there is plenty of things to loot near those hospitals). If you spawn in the coast you could have a bit gear on you but not too much.

So some people wash up on the coast with a bandage and painkillers, while others spawn on top of a box of med supplies. That seems fair...

Also, spawning players into PvP central is a pretty horrible idea. At least with everyone spawning on the coast everyone has the same chance and can make their own decision with regards to what they're gonna do. A lot of players avoid the big cities completely and head north straight away.

We will see how the team solves the background story. Maybe it will allow to introduce more spawn points than just the coast.

There are so many possibilities to explain WHY someone wakes up at any location.

Maybe they've been in a shipwreck (coast)

or a car crash (main road)

or a coma (hospital)

or simply ill (in bed at home)

or been kidnapped (some basement/house/camp)

or been away camping/hiking (forest/wilderness)

or on vacation (hotel)

or ...

I think if the loot system's gonna be revised for the standalone (loot found in lockers, dressers, drawers, cupboards... instead of just laying on the floor)

You could simultaneously solve the starting gear problem. You would spawn with nothing, but had access to basic supplies in your immediate surroundings.

And the different starting locations would give you different (dis-) advantages concerning the loot.

The easiest way to solve the question about the background story is definitely amnesia.

You wake up - anywhere on the map (except military areas) - and have no idea when an how you've landed there.

You can find bits of information to learn about the background of the infection, but your personal history will never be cleared, as nobody you knew would be alive.

A back story can be made up from anything, it doesn't matter where you are in the game because no matter what you magically pop into the server...

I like the camping idea, wake up in a random tent in the forest. with a camp fire out.
