How to lead a sniper shot.

Recommended Posts

Hello. I've been trying to hit moving targets in Dayz for a while now... (about 500m+)

But never had any luck. It may just be me, but the bullets seem to travel so slow. I come from CoD, so I'm really unused to bullet velocity etc.

Is there any tips for leading? Or any way to practice?

Thanks for the help.

Yeah as said above it take practice. Just go onto a low pop server just shoot things. Or use Armory on arma and just play around and find a range finder. You need to take into account drop and travle time. Some timesits just best to be patiant and wait for them to sit still any were 600m plus.

Uuugh. Its so tempting to take a shot at them though. :<

Every time I open up, the bullet seems to take 5 seconds to arrive... then they panick and DC. :<

The simple way to put it, get used to how much time between you pulling the trigger and seeing the puff at different distances. Watch how far your target moves in that amount of time, and put the crosshair appropriately ahead of them. It just takes practice to get used to it.

Practice.

Get used to the sniper you have equipped.

Use Math.

If you have a sniper that shoots at 800m/s and your target is 1200 meters away it simply means you're going to have to predict where your target will be in 1.5 seconds alongside the amount of drop distance that comes with the velocity of your bullets. Sniping can often be a combination or dumbfound luck, pure skill and experience.

and FYI adjust the guns zeroing accordingly. No point having your AS50's Zeroing at 1600 (or whatever the max is) and a target at 200M away and then trying to nail a headshot. Bullets sure to go over.
