You can't see it in the vid, but occasionally he'll kill off a group of people after not being able to get to us.

That's a script called a player shield. It kills anyone within a certain range. That's why you guys didn't hear the shots, he simply teleported to you and the shield killed your two buddies. You got lucky that it didn't kill you when he was running to you. Kid must be a script kiddy if he doesn't know how to change the range of it.
