Multiple Issues, any help appreciated

Recommended Posts

First off let me start by saying hi. Fairly new player here, but getting the hang of it. Now onto my reason for posting. I have been having a handful of errors and have been trying to get them resolved via reading posts, websites, etc, but all to no avail. First off I will list my system specs. Yes, I know it is dated, but I have the graphics tweaked so the framerates are good and gameplay is great.

2009 Alienware M17X

Win Vista Home Premium (All Updates Applied)

Intel® Core™2 Extreme CPU X9100 @ 3.06GHz

4GB RAM

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 512MB RAM x2 (Catalyst 12.6 Installed)

All drivers current

Broadband 2mbps DL speed

Steam Version of Arma2, Arma2 OA

Below is my list of issues

1- I typically use DayZ Commander to launch the game. Used to use Six Launcher, but like the features of Commander better. So, first time around I can launch the game just fine after server selection. I get frequent hangs at the Loading screen, but from what I have read this is not an uncommon issue. But this is where the problems begin. After alt tabing out and forcing Arma2 OA to close I relaunch Commander to start a new game. Without fail, using Commander or Six Launcher, I am unable to relaunch the game. Server selection goes fine, but once I pick a server, and Arma2 starts to launch, it hard freezes my computer. Only way out is a hard power cycle and reboot. I can reboot just fine and resume the process for one launch.

2- Similar to the above situation, I launch a game using Commander, get into a server, play for a bit and want to change servers, or get kicked for any random reason. (No biggie, its an Alpha, I dont expect perfection) Normally one using Commander would close the game, reopen Commander, and select another server to join and be on their merry way. Not I, I again am greeted by the issue above. Game starts to launch, hard freeze, hard reboot, hard drive whimpers at yet another hard shutdown. For some reason, Arma2 OA, and subsequentaly Dayz, just will not launch a second time without rebooting.

3- I have read ot this happening to many players, but have not found a reliable or working answer so I figured I would ask again. I am getting the same old problem of no matter where I log out, normal log out, or forced, everytime I return I am back at the beach, usually near Kamenka. I have not until tonight had it make me lose gear, but tonights loss was not really in the normal manner of my gear disappearing, this one was because as I loaded in back on the beach I was greeted by a bandit fellow less than 50m from me riddling me with rounds of AKM fire. I guess that was just a bad coincidince for me, lucky spawn for him. Oh well, hope he enjoys the ghillie suit, and a lot of hard earned survival supplies.

Alrighty then, that about covers my main issues. I wont get into the usual QQ on hackers, or share my personal opinions of most folks I run into in game. They have been expressed many times in many threads by many different people. But, I do hope that now that we are out of the game, someone will be willing to help me through these issues and ultimately assist me in getting back to the business of minding my own business up in the hills and countryside of Chernarus, trying to survive solo and helping the friendlies that are so few and far between.

Thank you for taking the time to read my wall of text here, thanks in advance for any constructive advice or ideas left.
