First encounter with "friendly" players.

Hello all :) This evening I had my first encounter with other players that didn't kill me on sight. I had just set up my character for a lone wolf mission and I was exploring the NE corner of the map. Out of nowhere I had a broken bone and was bleeding from an explosion when 2 other players in ghille suits appeared from nowhere, gave me a blood transfusion and morphine. They told me i had been blown up by accident and asked if i could help kill another player. After working out how to switch to the direct channel (yep i'm a noob) I said I'd help whereupon i was told to click on the gear on the ground. This changed me into a ghille suit and gave me a silenced semi-auto weapon (not sure what, but it had a red dot sight). After leaping all over the map I realised they were hackers and ran off.

I have dumped the weapon I was given and rearmed myself with a crossbow (I lost my AK when I picked up the new weapon), but I cant see how to get rid of the ghille suit. Is this at all possible and if so how can I do it? It has obviously been hacked into the game, and not only do I not cheat but I feel like I have a bullseye on my back when I need to go into a hospital for supplies (like now).

The ghillie suit isn't a 'hacked' item, you can find them in the 3 main cities or at heli crash sites. You should be aware that most players will assume that you're a bandit and shoot on sight while you're wearing it though.

To remove a ghillie suit you should open your gear menu, right-click your civilian clothing and change back in to that clothing. If you dropped your civi clothing then you're stuck in the ghillie.

Also, there's a known bug where changing clothing can make your backpack disappear so you might want to drop it on the floor and pick it up again after you change.

I would of kept all the stuff, your more than likely going to die probably to hackers and lose it all anyways so i would of just enjoyed the silenced weapon whilst I could.

As for ditching the Ghillie you need to find either a camo clothes or a dead player with a spare set of civi's as civi's do not spawn as far as i know.

This is only a free mod alpha do not get to worried about the hacked in gear, just do not be an ass and lower yourself to their level by hacking yourself. To be honest I am really bored of the Alpha now i,ve done everything there is to do, if I die I know where to get regeared with all the top tier stuff in under 30 mins, seems everyone has 50.cals, but I am sold on Dayz as soon as Rocket brings the standalone he will have my cash.

Hmm... usually when you change into a ghillie suit you will have a package in your inventory called "civilian clothes." Those are the ones you just changed out of. Since it was all done by a hack though, I'm not sure if that package would show up for you. If it did, you just click on it, and you'll now have a package that says "ghillie suit" that can be dropped.

If all else fails, get some zombie aggro and run to a spot where you can find your corpse again and die. You won't have it and you won't be able to loot it off your corpse either.

I don't like ghillie suits. :( They make you come up as a "sniper" when other players see you... even if you don't have a gun equipped. That's not my style at all, so I don't wear them either. Besides, they cover up my pretty plaid shirt. ;)

First ,player I met killed me with an axe, probably because I had a CZ on my back that I had just found (with zero ammo) in the firehouse he killed me in. Second player I met ran into me trying to dodge zombies, thought I was one and shot me. Realized I was a player, and even though I had a gun, epi'd me and offered blood but I hadnt figured out chat by then so just legged it.
