Senrain 148 Posted June 11, 2012 While walking through Cherno the other day with my bandit friends and generally mowing down zombies and the occasional survivor unfortunate enough to cross our path we shared some of our ideas for the game. We all agreed on one thing, the game was far too predictable and boring at times. The only unpredictable factor was other players and while sitting around a campfire in the rain, we all agreed that we'd like see more random stuff happen. I've seen many suggestions, and all of them are just unbelievably awesome. What if we just bundled them all up and gave each a random chance of happening anywhere on the map? Such as the remnants of the military, give them a small chance of rolling into a town and shaking things up a bit, a jet flying through and just bombing a town, a group of psychopaths with the old bandit skins defending certain high quality loot locations, or just random hordes wandering the countryside. I've been on some of those hacked servers with tanks and odd soldier NPCs shooting everyone, while zombies wreak havoc and feed as the city burns and I have to say it was one of the funnest experiences I've had in this mod. So wouldn't you guys agree this game needs some random events to spice things up?
lunakhod 8 Posted June 11, 2012 I'm more concerned that a hacker just dropped a citybuster and leveled Cherno, thanks but no thanks.
pogoman979 4 Posted June 11, 2012 while random events would spice up the gameplay momentarily, the game is seriously flawed due to it's lack of objectives and low difficulty. Superficial improvements can come when the game has it's mechanics worked out and is already good, i.e. they would just be the icing on the cake.Main areas of focus atm imo should be implementing stability and gameplay mechanics. What i mean is a jet flying overhead is nice, but has no actual effect on gameplay. Wandering hordes however are a good idea in terms of random events.

I honestly think the game needs some more chaos. Right now if you're careful and you stick the the wilderness the game is kind of peaceful. I want adrenaline pumping through my veins almost every second that I play, because I never know when some serious shit will go down.
pogoman979 4 Posted June 11, 2012 yeah but the reason the game is so peaceful is because surviving is so easy. If surviving was actually difficult and zombies were actually dangerous etc then the game would a lot less peaceful and a lot more desperate. I think random events as you describe will be good for gameplay later on, I just think right now there are other more glaring issues that need to be fixed. Having said that there's nothing wrong with discussing ideas, especially ones that would be easy to implement. Just a lot of cinematic events are time consuming to code, especially ones involving AI. steakjohnson 0 Posted June 14, 2012 Random events are absolutely essential to a game like this. Its honestly not complete without them.
