Something strange going on with my map

Used to show my location and direction, now does not and there are circles with an "x" marked on it with notes?

well the location and where ur going thing is gone because i think its only on recruit or special servers, the circles with x's and notes are from other players.

It all depends on the server. Some have the icons on, some don't. The X's are notes... Yeah.

Its all very normal. Your positional icon varies from server to server the owner turns it on/off. The black symbols are notes, just double click anywhere on the map type your text and hit return. I would advise not heading to the icons as they can sometimes be bandit traps!

Oh, lol, got spoiled by having my location on the map. Now I gotta think! lol

If you have a map in dayz but dont know where you are you cant press and hold LEFT SHIFT then press LEFT MOUSE BUTTON and it will put a waypoint on your map for you to head to. You could send it off in for different directions to gauge where you are from certain towns. There are lots of uses for it hope this helped!
