Scerun 227 Posted June 27, 2012 This would be awesome. Imagine finding a gun that you thought was lost over a week ago on some dead corpse you found in the middle of the woods.
survivor_davey 0 Posted June 27, 2012 This is a dead simple, really awesome suggestion. This is the kind of thing Rocket could put in when he was bored for an hour waiting for some testing/building to finish. Love it!
Arkc 6 Posted June 28, 2012 +1 Like it. The scratches would be hard to do' date=' but as others have said could be on inspect to see.[/quote']instead of scratches, just add a kill count number under where the name would be.then you could get some legendary weapon and continue adding to its kills. ElemenoP 60 Posted July 6, 2012 Woah, I thought this thread was done, didn't expect it to end up with three pages of replies!Adding a name to the weapon would be great' date=' but actually etching the name or killcount onto the weapon would be very difficult as that would mean modifying the texture or overlaying another texture over the gun which would change on every kill, and ultimately would unnecessarily use serverspace. the texture. An "inspect" detail which could simply read out the stats of the weapon to you would be a lot more probable, as far as I can tell.I'm for the idea, though having an option to reset it should also exist. Imagine picking up a .50 cal some idiot has decided to call "Da n00bsl4y3r 3000!!!1!1!!". You wouldn't actually want to use a gun with that name now, would you? :P[/quote']My intention was just a transparent overlay when you equip the weapon in your inventory. Adding textures to the guns and stuff would be unnecessary and difficult imo. Well yeah, but thats the risk you run picking up guns off players. Naming the weapon is the right of the finder.
