YSL 1 Posted August 25, 2012 (edited) So I installed Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA last night, came back this morning and they were done.Upon running the game (w/o Day Z) a huge graphical glitch happened. All of my settings are low, except video memory which is very high. (I did try to lower it)Here is a short piece of footage of what's going on.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URdY6g-nwyQMy graphics card specs:Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator HD (Core i5)Approx memory: 1760 MB.HELP D: Edited August 25, 2012 by YSL
deathstrike616 32 Posted August 25, 2012 (edited) Intel Graphics Media Accelerator??? Uhhh... no wonder you're having artifacts. And please don't tell me you have 1760MB of system memory... I don't understand how you're even playing the game with those integrated graphics, sorry man... If you want to play DayZ/ArmA with no lag you'll need a discrete graphics card... Retchet187 6 Posted August 25, 2012 Lots of players are dealing with the current artifacts/glitches near some of the airfields and military areas. Does the game run ok in most areas of the map?

driveandkill666@googlemail.com 2 Posted August 25, 2012 (edited) You deserve that for using integrated graphics... get yourself a decent GPU otherwise you wont be able to play it even if you didnt have any artifacts. deathstrike616 32 Posted August 25, 2012 (edited) Ahh well pardon me, answering your question. I have a 3 year old 9800GT, 512MB of RAM, that's it, and yet I run DayZ on Ultra. Really anything above that will be perfect for DayZ and Call of Little Kids, but if you want to get the best out of games like Battlefield 3, you'll want a GTX560 or above. It's your choice, really depends on what level of performance you want out of your PC. 6GB of RAM is great and Core i5 is fine.No.Can you not try, maybe a recommended graphics card, or something.I meant my graphics card has 1760MB of memory, computer itself on the other hand, has 6GB of RAM. Can you give me a specific link? Edited August 25, 2012 by YSL
deathstrike616 32 Posted August 25, 2012 (edited) Well, the 9800GT is real outdated nowadays, but it's always been a kickass card, and if you really do want one, it costs only about $20 now. I don't know the most about graphics cards out there, but even something as low as that will probably get you what you desire.*The 9800GT doesn't support DirectX11, though, the standard of Windows 7, so I wouldn't suggest buying it unless you're running Vista/XP.*As for manufacturers? I'd suggest buying an NVIDIA, I've never really gone with ATI, but Nvidia support for their cards seems better. As for which you should buy? There is a GT and GTX line. I suggest GTX as it's a lot better and made for gaming. So consider any model that says GTX, just make sure you get something above the GTX460, which may be discontinued soon. That will give you good performance on anything you want. Look at NVIDIA's lineup here, http://www.nvidia.co...rce_family.html, ask around for the prices, and see which is right for you. GTX560 will be much more than enough you need for Arma2, so just give it a Google and check them out. Anything within the 460-560 range will be plenty powerful for you, and should have enough power to keep up with games a couple years in the future.Check this link for a more detailed list.http://www.geforce.c...re/desktop-gpusJust FYI, the ABSOLUTE most powerful card there is today is the GTX690, but that has 4 GPUs, and costs $1000. YSL 1 Posted August 25, 2012 I bought the GTX 550 TI but my Lenovo H320, not sure if I can actually fit it in there..anyone know?Very slim computer >.<
Retchet187 6 Posted August 25, 2012 That powersupply maybe incapable of powering that video card. Try to find out for sure what type of powersupply your computer came with and compare it to the power requirements of the video card.GeForce GTX 550 TiMinimum System Power Requirement (W)4 400Whttp://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-550ti/specificationsEven if it fits you may need to upgrade your powersupply. deathstrike616 32 Posted August 25, 2012 (edited) Good call retchet, yes and 400W is the minimum, I'd shoot for at least a 600W PSU. I have a 80PLUS, it turns down the power when I don't need it, it's glitchy but nice. The graphics card make a difference? Ooooh YEAH it will. Your mind shall be blown. For sure.6GB RAM and an i5 are just splendid. You can finally run everything on Ultra B)Oh, and make sure that tiny Lenovo has a good cooling system. The first few times you play, watch your temps by looking at a utility like SpeedFan (free, http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php). Check the specs for your card, too. If it goes above the max temp, STOP PLAYING and rethink your rig.I push my 9800 to 100 deg. Celsius, 5 away from the max, and it works great. But when you have a small-form-factor PC, you really need to watch out. And if you can't even fit the thing in... just let me knowSo my processor/RAM is all in check?I'll be probably purchasing something above GTX460 as you said.I hope this does make a difference :P Edited August 25, 2012 by Deathstrike616

Definitely giving you my beans :beans:I cant fit the GTX 550 TI though on my machine, from what I have researched and I popped it open.Everything is quite small and a card like the 550 TI is very big indeed. If you run onto something that states otherwise, send it my way :D
deathstrike616 32 Posted August 26, 2012 No problem! The beans were great. Tomorrow I can follow up if you want as it's getting late, but send me a PM if you'd like to meet up in Chernarus, I don't have steam. You might have some trouble with the size because high performance graphics cards tend to be huge. If you need to, I'm sure you can refund the card meanwhile and I can search for a smaller card that can meat your needs. Thanks for everything deathstrike616! deathstrike616 32 Posted August 26, 2012 (edited) Can you give me any specs? Like maybe the constraints of your case, what would be the maximum practical length of a graphics card fitting in there? Those would be helpful.. I don't know much about the specific sizes of cards but with some specs anything may be possible.ThanksThanks :) Edited August 26, 2012 by Deathstrike616

deathstrike616 32 Posted August 28, 2012 (edited) Got it... well unfortunately right now I don't have the time to do any in-depth research..... you should consider trying out a NVIDIA GT class card (NVIDIA has a pretty sketchy lineup) like the 630. These are significantly smaller than the powerful GTX classes but offer significantly less performance. With these, it's kind of a hit or miss. You may even want to consider an ATI card, if you find the GTs don't fit your bill. Now I don't know anything about those, only that in certain situations ATI gives you more value than NVIDIA, and this maybe one of those, so if you want to head that way you should probably consult someone else or best, hire a knowledgeable tech guy to check out your setup and recommend what's best for you. Sorry that you have to do all this card hopping, but since your PC constraints I'd suggest you try the 630 or 640.Don't expect anything groundbreaking out of these, but if they match with your PC you can expect a great experience out of ARMA2 and DayZ at half the size of the GTX flagships. Sorry but I'm running low on time and can't give you anything super detailed.Reply to me anytime with thoughts!
