Why aren't there HMGs/GPMG's in this mod?

Recommended Posts

Note: Im talking about the likes of the Mag58 which can be used with a bipod and has an effective range of 800metres.

Are they not in ARMA 2? I would think they would be in this mod. Particularly considering the mod currently has high end military sniper rifles (50cals).

I think you can get the Mk.48, M249 and the M240 on DayZ

Yeah, which are all LMG's used at squad/section level as a standard. HMG's/GPMG's are more commonly used as an attachment to a company.

The M240 is the american licensed copy of the FN MAG

M240

MK.48

Both are classified as GPMGs as they both fire 7.62x51 NATO

Oh true, I thought they fired 5.56. That leads me to a different question, which is why are the effective ranges so low? 7.62 Nato should be effective at least to 800m just with a bipod.

Yeah an M240 is basically a Gimpy (L7A2)... Mk.48 is basically a SAW that shoots a 7.62 round, made for US Special Forces originally iirc. And I'm not sure about the ranges, although I thought it would be easy enough to hit someone with an M240 etc at roughly 600/800m in DayZ?
