so is it worth it to get arma 2 combined operations(is this the current version to get for this mod?) for $29 from steam and this for free(is it free?)

The standalone is being developed on a kind of "ArmA 2.5" engine. Basically, taking what DayZ needs out of the ArmA 3 engine and leaving the rest behind.

You won't need Arma2 or Arma3 to play the standalone. You need Arma 2 Combined Operations to play the mod.

The mod will continue alongside the standalone and will no doubt be a proving ground for new ideas. However it is very likely that the mod will always be plagued by hackers.

Well, in one interview they, said the ARMA 3 will be inclued with the mod, but its really dosent make sense, because its going be standalone, so i dont know :3
