First hacker encounter I've had.

Recommended Posts

This is kind of a long story, so bear with me.

So a friend and I were going to loot Elektro (Him going in while I provide sniper cover) to find some basic supplies before we head up north. I did notice a guy on the school house, and he had an AK. I took him down (Take note of his name "Headless") , and told my friend to loot him when he arrives. When he finally entered Elektro, he encountered a man by the school house (Didn't shoot at my friend, odd right?) , promising him to "Give weapons to him and more". So about 5 minutes passed before that incident, I see a guy in the fire house. Being the bandit that I am, I took him down and noticed it was Headless again. I told my friend to check him out. When he checked out his body, he noticed he had a Coyote Back pack, AS50, and more.

Then he starts saying a guy spawned in the fire house. This is where I presumed that this "Headless" guy was a hacker. The hacker proceeded to circle around the firehouse, in which then I shot him again, killing him. Literally 5 seconds have passed, and I get killed. So I started looking at my friends screen to see what is happening. Turns out that guy from the schoolhouse promising my friend goodies teleported right to him, the same guy who just killed me. Initial reaction was to shoot on sight, shot him twice with an AS50 that was looted off the hacker, and did not die. Keep in mind, the hacker was still talking to him about giving him items. He then disconnected and that was it.

So to the hacker at US 916, thanks for taking 14 days of survival, along with my AS50 rifle and more. I had a good laugh, seeing that you had to hack to kill me, even then took you 3 tries to find me.

What do you guys think?

My initial thoughts: Stupid hacker is more stupid than movie villains.

Edit: Fancy text is fancy.

Similar thing happened to me yesterday. I was running through the woods above Cherno, nobody in sight when all of a sudden someone comes over voice chat and says "Stop stop, I can see you". I turn around and there's some dude standing right next to me with some sort of sniper rifle wearing a Ghillie suit, and he's looking straight at me. He says something like "You have five seconds to comply". I had just picked up some sort of assault rifle from Balota airfiled (I forget which one), so I empty an entire clip into his head, and he's just there looking up into the sky... I reload, he just shoots me in the head, then I am dead. I had my suspicions that he was hacking seeing as he just appeared right by me, and I had been constantly checking around me, but after unloading a full clip into him and nothing happening, I now know he was hacking. Whoever you were, I would just like to say a big FUCK YOU.

How are you folks communicating with folks in-game? Via chat or the regional voice comms? An external voice comm's server?

I can't get my mic working so I can't communicate via in-game voice comms... and I'm told I can no longer use a global chat in this game as it was removed in one of the more recent updates/patches.

Wosret,

There is a direct chat option on the game, where you can interact with players nearby. They did remove the global chat feature for some reason.

Direct communication. It is proximity sensitive, though. 50 metres or so, i think.

Had 2 hacker encounters in 4 months, people seem to think they are more common than they actually are (at least in Europe)

Watched Deagan's stream where he was hacked 6 times on 5 different servers. Teleporting, invincibility, mass server kills, etc. Seems about par for the course.

Play on a server that has more than 5 people on it and you'll start encountering them on at least an hourly basis.

I've switched to playing Lingor Island and private hives. It eliminates both the ghosting and (for the most part) hacking issue at the same time.

It sucks, but atleast you killed a couple times before he got you. I don't understand why u didn't just leave the server after u realised he was hacking though...
