no text chat but other thing...

i was thinking that it would be more realistic if there was no text chat at all but thing that you enter text and it can be heard* at some distance but with some options like there is shouting, whispering and normal speaking(every of them has different radius where can be heard) to choose by pressing some button

*see the game "Moonbase Alpha" if you dont know what im talking about

UPDATE: If you dont get what i mean, it is like some kind of voice (for example like in google translator) reads the text entered by player.
