Saint_Noah 5 Posted August 22, 2012 The history of the Ural brand is steeped in enough intrigue to script a political thriller fitting enough to have a movie, with allegations including tales of Hitler providing Stalin with sidecar blueprints before World War II, and another of Russians reverse-engineering Urals from BMWs smuggled through Sweden. However beyond the impenetrable history is a 21st-century company that is working hard to reshape its perception in the motorcycle world. Before the fall of the U.S.S.R., Ural churned out as many as 130,000 motorcycles per year in a Soviet-style factory where vertical integration reigned supreme (see history.jpg). Nearly every component was manufactured in-house, from bolts and rubber trim to pistons (possibly parts you need to repair or maintain in game).I would love to see this kind of vehicle added to the game when it becomes a standalone. with additional parts added to industral spawn sites for motorcyle and smaller vehicles (anything worth having should be difficult to achieve).Rather there be different models of ural aviable (mounted machine gun, camo, and color etc) I would love to see this piece of russian motor history in DayZ!
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted August 22, 2012 Yup, that'd be a class addition.
director 12 Posted August 23, 2012 it is a shame that game whitch take place in post USSR dont have Moskvitch or Lada Niva. That is priority no 1 for devs. Without them this game is too much unrealistic :)
KlausB 4 Posted August 23, 2012 Replacing the ATV with this motorcycle would make sense to me
Caplock 9 Posted August 23, 2012 Is this history class?
Saint_Noah 5 Posted August 23, 2012 (edited) I think just because the Ural is made in russia doesn't mean that ATV don't exist there. I think given how rare vehicles seem to be, and how horded they usually are, an addition of a new small vehicle would be great, along with having seperate items to repair the ATV, motorcycle, bicycle, and other small vehicles. Instead of just using the same parts for all vehicles.I don't think the developers shouldn't go so far as to say "Dayz is restricted to russia, and therefore all cars must come from there in order to be realistic." Instead I'm just saying the ural is a iconic piece of Russian motor history that is the only vehicle from Russia that is currently sold world wide. That coupled with the fact that I think crusing around in a motorcycle sidecar with a mounted .50 cal mowing down zombie while listening to Scissor sisters (see youtube link below) is exactly how i'd spend my time in a zombie apocalypse should the day ever come.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFKUnfwBPTUand no this isn't a history class, but since when has learning something interesting been restricted to academic institutions only ? KlausB 4 Posted August 24, 2012 Thinking of gamebalancing the items used to repair vehicles (e.g. wheels) should be generic for all vehicles.Adding different types of engines, wheels and fuel tank parts will make repairing vehicles nearly impossible, cause it has to be done quick on a full server.
