Couple end-game long term goals

Recommended Posts

The beginning of the game is great. survive and collect supplies. but what happens when you know how to survive and have stuff to last you? pvp? that could be fun for a while...

Here are a couple Ideas for end game that players that need goal orientation could do.

scenario 1: Acquire an aircraft (small plane or chopper) and escape to a destination (island or something only an air vehicle could get to). This would not be an easy task. Choppers would not just be sitting around. You would need to gather parts and supplies and schematics and ammo etc. the frame for the chopper could be in a hanger or production workshop somewhere on the map and the only way to get it would be a flatbed truck hauling it to your chosen construction site, thus making getting a flatbed truck up and running would be a priority you would need to do before the end. one would need to do difficult schematic extraction from zombie infested areas, and just have a list of things you would need that are found in some general areas.

scenario 2: Delivering a cure to the CDC. This would take more patience and smarts than gathering chopper parts, as well as needing to lure 'live' zombies to areas for product testing. supplies also must be gathered from around the map, including perhaps different types of zombie blood (if they make different types of zombies, but that is a suggestion for another thread). Delivery to the CDC would be very difficult all by itself.

scenario 3: rebuild civilization. I put this one here just to knock the idea down before someone recommends it. It is a bad idea because 1) this is a MMO and gameplay would change to a WoW-like map after people built towns that couldn't be overrun by zombies 2) the coding would be difficult. changing the environment based on player whims and keeping it is not very viable in MMOs. 3) there would be player evidence everywhere. it would be cluttered and not give as much 'loneliness' feeling for surviving in the post apocalyptic environment. need I go on?

What happens when a goal is accomplished? How about a score is given to your character and put on a score board and the retiring of your character. Things like 'escaped via chopper in the shortest amount of time' or 'with most zombies killed' or 'least zombies killed'. scoreboard for the Cure scenario would be similar; shortest time, most/least zombies kiiled, perhaps amount of zombies cured. A reward for accomplishing an end game task could include a title or article of clothing or decoration on your uniform (badges of honor etc) to future characters to show off accomplishments. (all rewards would be purely aesthetic, no pvp or perks or gun rewards. just something to brag about.)
