Jex =TE= (DayZ) 218 Posted August 22, 2012 Once these have been removed, i.e. the replenishing ammo/rarity of ammo and you can no longer dupe the best gear or just give it to yourself via hacks, will we see a very different dayz emerge from the ashes? I think people are suddenly going to be a lot more cautious.1) The hassle to find ammo for their favourite gun2) Having to find a better gun because they know an enfield or winchester won't cut it which will make3) more travel and effort and more attachment to ur gear as you actually had to fucking work for it.4) The rarity of all the nice gear and the chance of loosing itWill these 3 things removed from the game be the biggest change in DayZ gameplay - they're a huge change in mechanics. Gogster (DayZ) 626 Posted August 22, 2012 As hackers are generally banned the next time the server admin checks the logs, I can't see that bit of it changing any time soon.I guess it will make the game run as intended, no more bandit camps with shed loads of AS50's stuffed away for a rainy day (NWAF farming). hoorah (DayZ) 36 Posted August 22, 2012 I agree that it will be a big change to the gameplay, but I still think the ghosting is more of a problem. It doesn't matter if the person legit worked for hours to find an AS50, NVGs, and a ghillie or if he just spawned it in, I can still sit at the top of dobry and server hop until I spawn in behind a sniper and take all his gear. I think if there were suddenly less scripted/duped gear, you'd almost no sniping as a result, because no one would risk their gear to a server hopper. Elo 44 Posted August 22, 2012 Once the standalone hits and all the super-obvious cheats have been fixed, people are just going to use more passive stuff like radar hacks which is still gamebreaking in a hardcore game like dayz
GenDodo 4 Posted August 22, 2012 (edited) Well, the only current solution I've been able to find atm is play on a private server. The server I currently play is always full of players, regulare resets and the database is saved every 30 min "just in case" a hacker does join and nukes everybody... If this does happen a rollback is performed and no one looses anything. Not to mention that in the past month I've played I've only seen em twice where as previously on the official servers I'd sometimes get killed once a day by a nuke, getting dropped from the sky ect ect.EDIT: The server also seems to have a seperat anti-cheat program as well which seems to do the job nicely. But I think that will only be fixed in the standalone. Edited August 22, 2012 by sebastian.w
Jex =TE= (DayZ) 218 Posted August 22, 2012 Yes my post was more geared towards the Stand-alone version of the game - Arma is still going to have issues.
