spawn in the middle of the ocean

ok so first time playing this game and i have spawned in the middle of the ocean with no land in sight and no idea which direction to head to

any help/ is this a bug?

yh ive been swimming for over 30 minutes and nothing .. luckily i lost connection to server and joined another and it was fine
