Better than teamspeak

Recommended Posts

Obviously there's no way to block off people using teamspeak/mumble/vent/xboxlive/skype to talk to one another. There's always going to be a way to circumvent any protection. So, it's pointless to even talk about that.

But, what if DayZ had better voice options than teamspeak? Except they kept with the spirit of the game. Meaning, you might be able to whisper so people have a hard time hearing you, but people really close would still hear you whispering into your radio.

Or other things like having to find a radio before you could talk over distances. Or jamming devices and other ways to tie the communication into gameplay. It would be great in my opinion. But, with it being so easy to circumvent stuff like this, is there any point? (example, in game map vs online loot map, the alternative is better & easier to find)

At which point would you get fed up and circumvent the game to talk with friends? How good/bad does the system need to be in order to keep you "playing"? Or is gaining ANY tactical advantage over other people enough of a reason?

(I'm not suggest anyone is doing it wrong, I'm just curious what everyone thinks about the subject. Maybe our feedback will help the standalone.)

^ This guys a cunt.

But on a serious note, if you want to stop people from entering your voice chats, lock them.

Other then the fact hes a cunt, he is right. A.C.R.E. Does exactly this, but isn't implemented in DayZ and it was said by Rocket that they tried, but it was having compatibility issues.

Also A.C.R.E. REQUIRES TeamSpeak, which could be a bit of a issue for some players if ACRE was implemented amongst all DayZ servers.

I know about ACRE. I'm trying to get a more theoretical discussion going here. Ignoring what is possible in the MOD or what has been done before in arma... my question being, what would it take to sway you over to the games communication tools. Long range communication? Silent mode?

RaidCall

Edit:

I pretty much own every Voip program especially all the ones you'd listed. There is always a member in my group that has a problem with one or more of the programs and so we all ended up getting RaidCall. I love it so far, better than Skype for sure!

ACRE would be perfect in DayZ, imagine trying to recover your dead teammate's body, not just for his loot, but to protect your radio channels from being leaked.

would be nice too, it allows you to change the volume of your (aural not radio) voice from whispers to shouting.
