Noob, can't start Fire

Getting desperate, had 4k Blood after a shootout and 4 cans of food. Trying to find more food ended up in a 9Z v me battle, now have <700 Blood.

Annoying part is I have had 6 Raw Meat, Hatchet, Chopped Wood, and Matches ever since the Shoot out, but every time I try to cook the meat, I can't figure out how to light fireplace. All it seems to be doing is allowing me to store items in it.

I believe you gotta right click the firewood or you have to use the scroll wheel.

Yeah, once you place it, scroll wheel should just offer 'light fire'.

It can be a bit awkward sometimes. Just keep moving your mouse around the fireplace until you can select 'Light fire' with your scroll wheel.

The same awkwardness also applies to cooking meat. :P

Just take 2 steps back look at the bottom of fire and use mouse-wheel, from there you should be able to select cook meat...

it's pretty much covered above, but here's the full 1-2-3:

box of matches and firewood in the inventory (and raw meat)

find a relatively flat area (I've had fireplace not show up on a slope)

right-click matches >> create fireplace (right-click on firewood might work too)

1-2 steps back, look at fireplace

mousewheel on the fire >> light fire

(have all raw meat in the inventory before cooking, not backpack, and all is cooked at once)

mousewheel on the fire >> cook meat

mousewheel on the fire >> put out fire

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to try it out. I passed out while making the fireplace and never woke up.
