Bring back the old weapon balance

Recommended Posts

I haven't played Day Z hardly at all since all the sidearms were nerfed into worthlessness. Is there any interest in bringing them back to their previous stats whatsoever? Am I the only one who doesn't like these changes?

You're not the only one. I would like them buffed as well. AK and AKS series buffed too because their damage is the lowest compared to any other assault rifle.

I have found myself using the M9 SD more now that my M1911 isn't a 1 banger...

Headshots are now priority which before they weren't... But I don't know I think I've grown as a shooter as per the sidearm.

The gimping of the lee has gotten me killed at least once but thats sour grapes...

The guns damage I think should be conducive with the caliber and round type. i.e. 2 shot from a 45. will stop any person dead in their tracks and kill just about anyone unless they are on PCP. But now it take's more then a mag's of .45 to kill a player WTF? I thought this was supposed to be a realistic game. Also SD or Sub Sonic ammo shouldn't make a crack noise when shot at a player cause its sub sonic, so it doesn't break the speed of sound. There for the round shouldn't make a crack noise when to the player its shot at. You should also be able to shot regular ammo from a SD weapon, just because you have a weapon with a suppressor on your gun doesn't mean you can't shot regular ammo out of it so why is it that way in the game? And another thing I would like to point out is the sniper rifles or any gun that shoots a .308 this is a round designed and used to drop 1000 pound plus animals so how is it a person can get hit with a .308 and still run? An idea I had was a diminished capacity where your speed is dropped do to bullet or blunt force trauma even illness. I feel that this would add a more realistic affect to the game.

I don't know what yall are talking about, I dropped two players in grocery store with the M1911 recently and they were better equiped than I was at the time and fully aware as well. In fact I now that I think about it I probably wasted more rounds than I needed to, you just have to aim really.

I would say they were probably already injured as the 1911 only does 1400 blood damage now so if you hit them 7 times that's only 9800 blood 1911 used to do 4500 damage. So either you hit them in the head or they were already injure homie. But thanks for the idea to aim with a gun never really dawned on me that's what I should doing.

not sure about damage of 5.56 and 5.45 cartridges, but AKM was nerfed to the ground, compared to FN FAL/DMR. the difference between cartridges isnt that big to make AKM`s damage half of FN FAL/DMR it should be ~20% lower.

anyway if you dont like the current weapon damage, you can roll back to 1.60 to "reverse" nerf

Gun damage should represent their real life counterparts.

Nerfing guns is the wrong way to go about it. If a gun is too effective it should be SPAWNED LESS, ie made rarer, not damage nerfed.

nope its BOTH.

Unfortunately you're correct, it currently is because the game is full of console kids bored with waiting for the next CoD. They should not be pandered to, it will only encourage them.

game dont become a fps depending of community`s gamestyle, its how developers made a view in a game. you can read about fps genre on wiki, so i wouldnt bother myself for further explanation :)

I agree and disagree with this, The sidearms are a little worthless if you cant nail a zombie in a head whiles its running and weaving, But a Zombie is supposed to only be killed by headshots and a 1 shot to the head takes it down. On people the pistol with 2-5 rounds will kill or knockout a player too.

Perhaps next time you should read your own source material. It would prevent mem from having to do it for you.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_person_shooter

"First-person shooter (FPS) is a video game genre that centers the gameplay on gun and projectile weapon-based combat through first-person perspective;"

The game is not centered around gun and projectile based combat, it's based around survival. Just because it uses a fps engine and has guns in it doesn't make it a fps. Thanks for wasting my time.

my source is the same. the gameplay is centered around the combat through first person prospective( its kinda pain in the ass to use third person for shooting because of bad implementation) as side feature there is a survival aspect of the game, but currently its not core gameplay mechanic, and only standalone might change something.

Not a first person shooter, a survival simulator.

That is all.

I don't understand what that has to do with the damage of the cal. of a round? I think if anything that if its a survival simulator that should make it even more realistic. Which brings back to why does a .45 and a .308 so nerfed? The gun itself doesn't determine the damage a round can do to something. The only thing a weapon changes is the rate of fire, accuracy, ease of use, and range. I personally hate most FPS games as they make no scene to me. And I don't get why a sniper rifle takes 3 rounds to kill someone its a one shot deal, a person may survive a shot from a .308 but they are not going to take a hit and run off that's just stupid. Yet I have had to put up to 3 rounds from a DMR to drop a person WTF. How is that make it a survival simulator? It doesn't its just stupid. Not to mention the DMR having a variable power scope that changes its mil hold once zoomed in cause that's realistic. FYI going from 10X to 15X doesn't change your point of aim there's not a single scope in the world that does this. Just saying.
