Map Boards in Towns

Recommended Posts

This is just a thought and in no way am I saying this is how it should be, but lets just say...

A sniper is hiding in the hills to the north of Cherno. He spots a survivor riding the Z train through town wielding a hatchet, takes a shot, and the survivor goes down. Maybe nobody saw where he shot from, but it's more than guaranteed in a populated server that somebody else heard it.

The third player, the one that heard the gunshot would have a rough idea which direction the shot came from, and possibly an idea of distance due to the volume of the gunshot, quieter being further away and louder being closer obviously. He can't do anything quite yet, he doesn't have a weapon and is probably going to get taken out if he tries to get close to the sniper.

In each of the major towns there could then be a map on a board somewhere, (next to a bus stop or a train station?) the same as the in game map, but not portable. A player could be able to access this map and drop a marker, or highlight a square on the map where he thinks this shot came from. Now, any other survivors that go and look at this same map will see the markers and have a general idea of where this sniper is camping. You wouldn't need player names or anything like that, just a simple marker. This marker could stay on the map for a limited time, maybe 30 minutes, or until someone else activates the map and removes it, and it could possibly be done so only a bandit can remove markers. Also, if you have the in game map, you can then transfer the coordinates onto there so you can have a check while you are on the move.

I don't really care too much for the idea of a reward for the kill, it's more of an idea for a way of survivors to actually communicate without actually having to be too close to each other. This map could be used in the same way that the in game map works, but can be viewed by anyone who activates it. This may also encourage people to sit and camp looking at the map to stop people posting locations, and could make for some interesting scenarios.

Just an idea, could work, could be good, could be absolutely rubbish, but ideas are ideas and that's what the forum is for.

If I was sniping survivors, I would go to the map and mark a spot to put them facing away from me & in a decent range, so I can shoot them and they will have no idea that I am behind them. That'd be fun.

Or the sniper could just shoot anyone looking at the map. After all you can't read a map nailed to a wall and move at the same time. BOOM headshot.

Thinking outside the box. I like it.

Also, I would shoot anyone in a ghillie suit who came down to change my map after the first shot missed.
