frogloose 0 Posted June 10, 2012 So basically, there's a problem....My bro and i decided to buy separate copies of ArmA II: CO on steam using our own separate steam accounts. I had started before my brother did and created a character and everything on my steam. My brother hops on his steam, runs the game no worries...But when he joins a server, he spawns as my character. Now from there i have no idea of how to fix this. I've tried getting him to create a new account in the 'player profile' option in-game but it will still spawn as my guy. Now i don't have a clue on what to do, and so far i think ultimately my brother has just wasted his own $30 which i feel bad about. But i want to ask on the forum to see if there's a way to have our own separate characters beside just using the one steam account (probably easier just to have done that, should've thought more)... :S
Sancos 0 Posted June 10, 2012 I'm having a problem that looks abit like this as well.I bought armaII CO for me and my girlfriend.Installed on both computers and we are able to play. But when ever i try to join a server where she's on i get insta kicked when i try to join. The same goes for her.some info:The game are both bought with my paypal acc (no steam gift)I played on my account on both comps. She didnt.I had the weapon on my girl once when i logged in. After that she left that server.
kiotie 23 Posted June 10, 2012 So there are two steam accounts, but one game on one computer?
Sancos 0 Posted June 10, 2012 there are 2 steam acc's and 2 comp's(with my problem)but both account did go trough 1 comp 1st
kiotie 23 Posted June 10, 2012 Okay, and I assume both game are downloaded separately, not copied? If that's the case, I'm guessing that the game verifies your IP and assumes that your brother is you.**Edit**Apologies, I though you were the OP. Same situation though. You could try to delete all of your profile data on your girlfriend's computer, both steam and ArmA II
Sancos 0 Posted June 10, 2012 **Edit**Apologies' date=' I though you were the OP. Same situation though.[hr']You could try to delete all of your profile data on your girlfriend's computer, both steam and ArmA IIi did on both comp :(but i did install arma2/OA/CO with the same acc :ocould it be that it uses the same cd key that way?and if so, is there anyway to know? kiotie 23 Posted June 10, 2012 It's actually very likely that if you installed with just one account, then the CD Key is identical. Check it by right-clicking ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead in your steam library and clicking 'View game CD key'.
Sancos 0 Posted June 10, 2012 We checked it that way. They were both different. But i was able to start Arma CO without steam. So i think they are using the same keys :(
kiotie 23 Posted June 10, 2012 I know it's a very large download, so I don't want to resort to redownloading it just yet.Press your windows start button and 'R' at the same time. A run dialog should pop up.In this dialog, type 'regedit' and press enter.Using the arrows on the left, navigate your way to the following: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432NodeIf it doesn't exist, then you're not on a 64-bit system...tell me if so and I can give you the right location.Delete the two folders named "Bohemia Interactive" and "Bohemia Interactive Studio"Now go back to steam, right click your game and click properties. Go to the "Local Files" tab, and select "Verify Integrity of Game Cache". Do this for both ArmA II and ArmA II: OA.Edit: And make sure you're doing this all on your girlfriend's computer. Otherwise, it would make no difference.

Yak 2 Posted June 10, 2012 It's not an issues on the client end. Most likely it's on the server end. Most likely you are using a router. Therefor you have the same external IP address. Most likely the servers are thinking that you are trying to log in two times.
kiotie 23 Posted June 10, 2012 The problem for Sancos was that both games were using his one CD key. By resetting the registry keys as I instructed, Steam replaced them with the correct data and should therefore allow both to play at once.
frogloose 0 Posted June 11, 2012 So there are two steam accounts' date=' but one game on one computer?[/quote']yes that is exactly the case...
kiotie 23 Posted June 11, 2012 Sorry, but there's not much way around that then. Unless you wanna follow my instructions every time someone changes the account to play, you pretty much need two computers.-EDIT-See post below
Disgraced 1123 Posted June 11, 2012 Nope, resetting the cd key is not necessary (indeed, when I tried it, it reset itself back to the original!)If its working for you, great! What I did was set up two windows user accounts on my computer, buy two copies and switch between steam accounts AND windows accounts for each of us to play. No regedit necessary.
kiotie 23 Posted June 11, 2012 Hm, didn't think of that. Definitely works though!
