IIII_joshua 16 Posted August 21, 2012 I've been seeing a lot of forum posts about fixing the alpha. Mostly people saying "I quit", "This game sucks/is terrible because of bug xyz, Fix xyz or I quit/boycott", or similar negative comments.I know it can be hard not being able to play the game how you want, but here is my take on why the bugs are actually a GOOD thing.1.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------First of all, I'm glad the Developers have their priority of adding game features first. I do not want dogs, infection, temperature, and all the other goodies planned to STOP every time a tent breaks or a vehicle spawns wrong. If theses bugs are easy to Fix, do you think rocket would not fix them immediately? Yes, dayz is a game you like, but it is even more than a game to Rocket. He has put a lot of sweat and blood into it. If it were the best path to pour his effort into it I have faith he would have done it. That doesn't mean it won't get fixed, but that they are probably working on it BUT also mostly working on DayZ standalone. Likely this is the correct choice.2.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Devs have already said some of the biggest bugs, such as duping, inventory errors, hacking, and broken characters are not fixable in ARMA II.Therefore, the faster the game goes standalone the sooner we have a Better dayz. I'd rather not play as much now and get a much sooner stand alone than have a perfectly patched alpha. Again, I think if a perfect alpha were easy Rocket would do it for us.. as it is it sounds like it would take a terrible amount of effort and I respect him pushing to make DAYZ better even if it hurts for now.3.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------That said, I think with current duping and inventory bugs, having no tents/vehicle saves actually helps the game have less cheating.Vehicle and tents not saving stops the dupers. It doesn't stop the hackers, but DayZ standalone is the only thing that will really help with hacking. Therefor focusing on developing dayZ and leaving alpha bugs behind sounds like a really good choice to me. The sooner the better.IN SHORT:: I can't wait for standalone and I really don't care if dayZ alpha is buggy & I think you should feel the same way.I applaud the developers for fixing what they can but understanding that if they get stuck on these huge alpha bugs then we'll never have the dayZ we want. I have faith that the developers are not stupid and care about the game more than any of us do.. and that consequently they're doing the best they can.please stop posing urgent threads and threats over and over for the same bugs.. play the alpha and enjoy waiting for the next big build to come out :)Right now tents and vehicles don't work so just don't use them. It's not a game ender, Nor is fixing them going to fix DayZ alpha.
resin_ 97 Posted August 21, 2012 The problem is that people get too attached to their gear. If you accept the fact that dying is part of the game, it's a lot more fun.

willbrunelle 33 Posted August 21, 2012 Personally, I think the community needs one massive, collective deep breath. We are all still playing a fun game. A fun game. A game. It's just a game. And it's entertaining; bugs aside, it's fun to run around, kill zombies, get stuff, kill players, get better stuff, and then lather, rinse and repeat. And dying is a part of the game; starting over again is part of it. I have a personal rule: if it doesn't fit on my back or in my pack, I ditch it and let someone else be happy. No use worrying about tents or whether my truck saved the gear, etc. It makes the game stressful instead of fun, and really takes away from the experience of playing. I'm very happy with DayZ. I get frustrated when hackers kill me or I get killed by bugs, etc., but I don't let it ruin my day, because I know that respawning and starting over will just bring on a whole new round of really exciting adventures and challenges.Embrace this game for what it is, folks; don't sweat the bugs and hackers. The development team is aiming to fix all of that in the standalone release, because ARMA II is simply not a good working environment in which to hammer out every single little thing (duping, tents not saving, hacking, etc.). They're coming up with ideas, implementing them, testing the waters, and compiling a list of the real, true, best of the best features for the standalone. Let them work. Play the game, report your bugs in a timely and intelligent way, and have fun.See you all in my crosshairs ;)
GrendelZ 10 Posted August 21, 2012 I am very happy with the tent and vehicle bugs as I don't use them and too many people use them to duplicate their gear. :)
Jaoai 16 Posted August 21, 2012 I also have good confidence in Rocket's ability to prioritize, BUT what they really must learn is that TRANSPARENCY keeps all these worries and random threads away. People want to know what is going on behind the curtain and gets frustrated when no one says anything.
tazgecko 7 Posted August 22, 2012 (edited) Better to get rid of tents for the short term, lets get back to what made the game in the first place … survival. All you have is on your person, bang! you’re dead, start over again.Give the tents back when it works …It's Alpha people, have fun Edited August 22, 2012 by tazgecko
metal (DayZ) 46 Posted August 22, 2012 Seems like everyone is happy with it, seeing how it is never gets fixed. I personally have reached the point in this game where I don't care much about my gear but I still find it convenient to just go into the forest and grab whatever I might need. If it gets fixed or not - I don't really care.
