Edge of the map

So the in-game map's perimeter is actually a fair amount larger than the http://dayzdb.com/map when it comes to the northern edge.

I just want to know if there is an actual difference in game mechanics there?

eg, no animal spawns, tents can't be placed etc. etc.

You can do both, save tents and yes animals still spawn out there.

The actual playable map is the area shown in the in-game map. The edge of the map is a very distinct line on the ground. Beond it there is no vegetation of any kind. The edge of the map is popular stash for camps and vehicle hoarding.

While travelling, my friend and I went passed where the road ends at Grozovy Pass.
