I like to act in a very kind manner, in hopes that I might get some good karma in return, but no matter how friendly I try to be, there's always that guy who just wants to blast your tits off. Am I just a sucker for refusing to murder, or does humanity actually have some sort of value? I have been unable to tell the difference between bandits and survivors thus far, but I also spend lots of time in the forest.

TL:DR Is there any value to not killing on sight?

People do KOS alot, and i doubt anything is going to change that, Since it is a part of the game.. and to be honest? both you and the other guy is afraid their heads will become shooting practice?

Honestly, I'm friendly to a point. If you're near me and don't see me, I've got my crosshairs between your eyes, I'll tell you to leave before I shoot. Out of range of Direction Communication or I think you may have seen me and might be able to shoot me, then I shoot first. Han Solo, mutha-fuckah.

Haha, I have been murdered a number of times, I still get surprised when it happens, and I've killed a few in self-defense, but I always feel like I could do something to avoid it. Like today, I saw someone kicking around nearby, but wasn't very worried about his presence. I was going through a factory, turn around, and somebody is standing in the doorway. Naturally, he unloads on me. I'm not unhappy that KOS does happen, makes the game very exciting, just curious if there is a reason to be friendly, or if KOS is the smart way to survive.

Right now that is the problem, there is no reason to be friendly. That's one of the things Rocket has said he'd like to address.

Being friendly does bring about some new experiences. If I was trying to make an incentive to be friendly, that's where I'd start the dialogue. There is something to be said for the experience that you have when you actually work with a stranger. No matter how many times I experience it, it never gets old.

Holy crap, we got Dr. Wasteland and DancingBear in here.

And yes, I agree, getting to work with strangers, however, nerve wracking is awesome, and I don't mind the paranoia that they could be setting me up. But right now, except for somebody just being nice, there's nothing to keep someone from shooting me in the back. It's why I liked the old bandit skin system, flawed as it was. My hope is to see some very basic skill tree system that encourages you to work with others. Farming, building, mining, etc. Non-combat oriented jobs to allow some diversity. Allows you to do something together you could never do apart.

If the player is on there own they are much less likely to KOS, however if they are travelling in a group there group are much more likely to shoot a noob on the coast or a good geared person at NW airfield, I only don't KOS if I'm around the coast, The moment I go further north past Starry Sober I act like everybody is hostile, because tbh most people are the further you go north. I also KOS Snipers because come on? You don't use a AS50 for zombie killing? That gun is made for PVP and If I see anybody with that, They die... So all in all, I don't mind people KOS'ing because sometimes its the safer option:D

Haha I'm a huge fan of your work! :D

And I always just feel goood when I help someone. With 600 blood and broken legs, i was sitting in a factory in Komarovo (had just played hatchety sax with someone) and I heard someone running around outside. Being so close to death I called him into the building and implored him to take all my gear. He was obviously nervous when he saw me lying on the ground with a hatchet in hand, but i placed all my gear on the ground (wasn't much) and crawled into my zombie related doom.
