Friend kicked whenever he joins server and vise versa

Hi, so a few weeks back i bought dayz and then a friend bought it too to play with me. He waited until he got his new laptop (today) to play it. I helped him download all the games (he bought Arma II and Arma II:OA off of steam) and then get six launcher etc. He successfully can join servers and play the game but now when we try to play together only 1 of us can join the server. The other person gets a message *You were kicked from the server*. So when i join first it lets me in but then when he joins it just kicks him. THe message *illegal copies may degrade* spams when he joins. Same for me. We both bought the two games (no piracy) When we join different servers it works for both of us. We live fairly close but i doubt it is a IP address problem. Any solutions are help? thanks in advance (and NO we did not pirate anything)
