DazTroyer 227 Posted August 20, 2012 Ok noob question alert!!!! I'm used to xbox and in game chat in pc games but obviously that don't work across the map in Dayz. If I use Skype with my X1's headphones how does it all work, is it still push to talk etc etc. I don't have speakers and tbh like game sounds through my headphones as I'm a little hard of hearing. Anyway thanks in advance...
Bobcomss 189 Posted August 20, 2012 I find Skype has trouble relaying game sound and talking...Use TS3 so much better ad reliable :)AJ
AngryKaze 15 Posted August 20, 2012 Or you set the settings to that Skype dont lower master volume when someone talks.
DazTroyer 227 Posted August 20, 2012 I take by that you mean Team Speak? It's all so much easier on the 360 lol.
Hekka 6 Posted August 20, 2012 Skype works similarly to a phone call, so you'll launch it alongside the game, call the person you want, and don't have to do anything afterwards. You can adjust the level of your mic, and the level of the skype output in order to balance it with the game sounds in the Tools menu. Skype is quit nice as long as you chat with one, or two people (conference option), the sound quality is nicer than a Teamspeak which is designed for larger groups of voice chat. Chiromishi 28 Posted August 20, 2012 Skype is a calling tool used for friends (Who doesn't know that?), you'd have to find a friend to play with and ask for his/her Skype name. (You have any friends? If so it should be easy.)After all that mumbo jumbo, or before... You may set your Skype to either push-to-talk or set to whenever you speak. (If you want Push-to-Talk, make sure you are not using the same key for in-game voice chat as it would also be transferred through the vicinity of your player. Annoying as all hell. So be sure to remap that key.) The most difficult thing to do here would to be getting a person's Skype name, as most people are 'Shoot-To-Kill' (Again, who doesn't know that...?), and would not put up with your efforts to be friendly and shoot you. (Poor sod...)About the headset/phonies, I'm not too sure about them (I don't own them, and i'm too lazy to look them up to see if they're compatible.), Although I am sure they are compatible with Skype (Or any other calling tool.)Also I'd recommend getting some speakers, cheap ones if you can. (You don't have to, I use a cheap pair of headphones and a Rockband microphone, lol.) Also adjust your headphones to where you can hear. I'm going off topic... I hope I helped, have any questions? If so then ask away! :)

DazTroyer 227 Posted August 20, 2012 (edited) Of course I knew what Skype is, I just wanted to know how it worked in conjunction with my game sound through my headphones. I'm sure the X1's will work as they were obviously adapted for the 360 with an xtra cable. They come with usb power and headphone, voice jacks. I will have a play tonight but thanks for the help. Now I just need to find a friend lol Edited August 20, 2012 by DazTroyer
Toilet 204 Posted August 20, 2012 Mumble ftw. Our clan has our own Mumble voip server that we use and it is far better than TS3 and I wouldn't even bother with Skype.
