I know it would be pretty much useless, but i still think its a good alternative to being totally defenseless and having to constantly run when the ammo drys up. Guest Suffocation Posted April 24, 2012 ArmA itself doesn't have a melee system and though would be slightly handy at times, I think it would be pointless, arma's AI movement is bad enough with a gun in your hand let alone trying to hit someone with a knife. ZMEY 0 Posted April 24, 2012 Maybe not so melee, but i remember in OFP times there was a throwing knife addon, even with spining animation. Would be cool if we see something alike. Like 1 pack takes 1 inventory slot and consist 5 non-retrievable small throwing knifes. Would be cool for stealth z's kilings or if you are out of ammo. oktyabr 53 Posted April 24, 2012 +1 also, and yes it's possibleSome fantastic youtubes out there on this mod that I occasionally use for recruitment purposes... but then the inevitable happens... everyone is out of bullets and there is absolutely no option but to keep running.I'm sure it's no easy task to get a melee system working on this engine but hey, it's bread and butter to the zombie genre... guys with crowbars, baseball bats, even empty weapons, smashing in zombie heads. Sounds difficult but I have faith in you devs :PI don't think it even needs to cause a lot of damage, just something that can kneecap some zed bitches and escape from inevitable doom. {Op4}Mcface 0 Posted April 26, 2012 yeah, some CLR servers have a pistol whip/punch animation. using that to temporarily knock a zombie down so you can escape would be pretty useful, or if you wanted to sneak up on a player and knock him out from behind to rob him. I do agree we should have a way to take care lonely zombies that are blocking our way, without having to make sound (shooting him) even when we do not have a crossbow. In a "real world" zombie environment, strewn with odds and ends, improvised weapons like clubs, spears, molotovs (coming soon), seem far more likely and useful than wasting precious ammunition and then having no solution other than running, when you run out.
