DarkFlam3 1 Posted August 20, 2012 Story time! :) If anyone finds stories interesting. If not, don't bother reading! My crew and I have been playing DayZ for a few weeks and finally settled down on a server (which will probably be changing soon due to school, work etc.). We aren't really a clan, just a bunch of people who have been gaming together and friends. We found a Ural on this server and spent a few hours repairing it, and because of that Ural we acquired a pretty hefty armoury of AS50s, DMRs, L85s, FN-FALs and the like. We had the Ural for about two weeks and thought "Wow, we've had this thing way longer than we thought we would," and were pretty much just counting down the days until we lost it. And the other day, we did... But it wasn't lost in the middle of the night to some random people stumbling upon it, but only after wiping out an entire clan singlehandedly and forcing them into multiple rage quits and all night searches! Definitely a fine way to lose it, I must say. We hadn't gotten into many scrimmages with legitimate players, usually only getting into battles with people who teleport back to their body immediately after dying, fully geared over and over again or being teleported into a field of bear traps surrounded by snipers (who, if you were wondering, we still killed). We wanted to taste some blood. The Red Sedan We were driving down the road in the Ural, blowing up people's vehicles and running over tents; raiding cities and stocking up on medical supplies. We had heard a chopper overhead a while before, but that's why we had one man carrying an AS50. We are getting bored of the endless driving and decide to head towards camp and call it a night - when not two minutes later a red sedan pulls towards us. We steer into them and they narrowly avoid us, one man ejecting and opening fire on our Ural. While our driver was slowing to turn around I hopped out with my Kobra on semi and plugged a few rounds into the gunman's chest. I took aim at the windows and fired in at the passengers and driver. Blood began to fountain out of the roof and the car came to a halt. A tractor begins pulling up behind the fray and I take fire on them as well. At this point the people in our Ural begin getting out and firing on the tractor. He falls from the tractor, passed out. We thought he was dead - when suddenly, like Bilbo Baggins he disappears. Only one body is left after 5 names appearing in the bottom left and I have only one murder to my name. Laughing and cheering, we loot the bodies and decide to take the other vehicles for a spin. Hell TownBut the story doesn't end there. Suddenly, the driver of the red sedan teleports forward due to lag and appears inside a blown up car - catching fire. She hops out and runs, but winds up bloody and broken. Ten zombies appear. Then twenty. Thirty. Suddenly we're surrounded by easily fifty zombies with one girl unconscious and bleeding out. Our sniper bandages her while me and the driver provide cover fire. He drags her body to the Ural and loads her in while I give them both blood transfusions, being covered by our driver. I run up and watch as my kill count has increased by ~80. Our driver hops in the tractor, hoping to bring it out while we drive the Ural out of dodge......Boom. The tractor explodes. We rush back with even more zombies pouring in around us, our patient still unconscious in the back of the Ural. He throws his backpack into the truck and runs to take all of our driver's gear. We're surrounded again and by this point I've already had to stock up my inventory with ammo from the truck twice. I'm down 23 AK magazines and 11 G17 mags and running back to the truck, down to 5000 blood. We hop in and drive off to safety to rearm and heal.A Long Drive HomeWe were still about 9km away from our camp. We were down to three while our fourth was off trying to gear up in Cherno and make his way back out to us. We took the main highway and headed north east. I wasn't sure because of how loud the Ural is, but I thought I heard the helicopter again. "... but there's no way. It's only us and them on the server and they all JUST died - unless they've got the chopper down along the coast." *puff puff puff puff puff puff*Dirt all around us starts flying as bullets barrage the ground. A helicopter is overhead. I take a hard right into a field and go under the trees for cover. "LET ME OUT" our sniper yells. I slow down, he jumps out and takes fire on the chopper. I drove across the field, swerving from bullets. We get hit and our fifth (who is quite new and hasn't been largely participating this whole time) gets shot through the Ural and breaks his legs. Contact. The chopper is smoking and spinning out of control, but they manage to safely escape us. We heal up, regroup and make our way uninterrupted back to camp.We find 20-30 tents on the way and destroy them all. We get back, knowing that we're going to lose our Ural tonight. We're being stalked by people with a chopper. We decided to park the Ural pretty far away from camp. It was 9AM. We were tired. A Few Hours LaterWell we woke up and tired, our sniper, our third and I log in and to our amazement, our camp is still there - but on the map where our truck was is about 7 markers cursing us out, calling us hackers and saying they found our Ural.THAT made it all so much better :) The butthurt was strong in them. It's pitch black when we logged in and we rearmed. Suddenly, a chopper overhead. They saw us on the map. We took cover and rearmed. I replaced my Kobra with an L85, Rachel her AK with an L85. Our sniper fired a few rounds to get their attention and we heard the engine shut off. It started up again - we suspected there were people on foot. Sure enough, fully automatic shots fired and with a .50 cal fire, they end. A few minutes pass and above us we hear the chopper, very close. After about 20 minutes,*bang bang bang bang*Our sniper takes fire. "_________ was killed"And we never saw that helicopter again. Later that day, we logged on and noticed our camps were gone. Even the pretty far away ones were gone. All In AllIt was pretty fun. I killed an entire clan single handedly with an AK. I went through 30+ mags while we took out a seemingly endless zombie horde. We destroyed what was probably a duper's camp. We evaded a chopper and almost took it out with a sniper. We almost took out a chopper - again. All with the only casualty being a guy blowing up in a tractor because a car blew up after lagging forward. We lost our camp; We lost our Ural; But in the end we weren't the ones who were raging. Rule #1: Don't get attached to your gear.

DarkFlam3 1 Posted August 20, 2012 Then the server resets and it all comes back.Heh, as awesome as that would be it was actually after the server was down that we noticed everything gone. Not sure if it was a server restart or if the server messed up and things got deleted. If it truly happened the way you described it, then they were probably scripties. It's pretty much exactly how it happened. We were thrown off because the server message said the chopper was destroyed, but it could have just not been updated once it spawned. As far as we know there could have just been one person not in the crew who logged in and picked up the rest of them or something. We've dealt with tons of hackers and scripters and if these guys WERE hacking/scripting/duping it's not nearly as bad as it has been in the past :P
