My Best Story of Banditry

Recommended Posts

So I was at the NW airfield, near the first 6 hangars when I hear some pretty quiet shots from at least a km or two away. I run in the direction of them, and its towards Stary Sobor. I keep hearing shots and I see two people run into one of those warehouses, it was all alone in a field.

I position myself on a hill to the north, about 600m away, and observe for a little bit. There are 4-6 of them from what I see, and only one or two have snipers. I wait for my opportunity, take out my DMR, and shoot both of the snipers. They are all inside the warehouse at this point. I take more shots, and take two more down. I see one run into a corner where I cant see, and the other run out the back.

Its a standoff, the guy inside pops out and I take a shot, wounding him. The other guy runs onto a hill and takes binoculars out, looking for me. I take him out with a few shots. I hear shooting from within the barn, and from what I see two of them shot each other. Maybe they turned on each other. I wait about 5 minutes to see if anything happens. Nothing.

I slowly work my way into the barn to collect my phat loots. I counted up a total of 7 bodies. I got a m4a1 cco sd with 3 mags, nvgs, a coyote pack, antibiotics, and quite a bit of cooked meat.

And that's how you do it.

Im normally not a bandit until the endgame where you have everything to survive alone, i tend to avoid other players but this happened like 15 minutes ago and it was summary of what I love about day z.

I found a map and compass in Cherno after spawn and took some time to navigate towards green mountain as I have yet to explore the south western part of the map. Im going up the mountains when 2 gunshots land close as hell to me.

Someones seen my and wants me dead.

I go prone and maneuver slowly behind cover and make my way around where the shots came from and made it into the base at Green Mountain, I climbed the tower and scanned from the top for a solid 5 minutes for the guy, I finally spot him crouching around the base, following exactly the path I took. I aim my ak and shoot him twice, he goes for cover and a brief firefight ensues.

My trusty AK 47 does the job and I land 4 or 5 shots directly into him and he crumples to the ground, immesnly satisfying. We played a game of cat and mouse for a solid 15 minutes, both knowing we were close to each other but not knowing exactly where.

Ended up getting a GPS, range finder and M16 with a red dot with 4 mags to replace my AK with a single mag.

Simply amazing! Never felt the same kind of intensity in any other game, the fact that you can die from a single bullet makes the actual combat thrilling and satisfying.
