Cant play with friend.

Hey me and a friend wanted to play dayz together so we both got us the arma 2 game on steam and started installing. I bought the game some time before and i installed it and it worked perfectly good, then i got another pc and wanted to install the game on that aswell so that me and ma pal could play together whe we were at my house, We installed the game on the laptop through his steam account and he started dayz while still on his steam account, now he has installed the game on his own pc at home and we cant plat together at anytime, the 2nd to join the server gets kicked.

Can this be because of the game beign installed on both computer from the same steam account, and then it uses the same cd-key on both though i have logged on to my own account?
