Release the standalone already

Recommended Posts

^ Because rocket wants dayz to go standalone for the piss of it...

Actually I would say it was more due to the amount of demand this mod has made. Think of Counter-Strike and Team Fort. It was a HL mod.. that became so large, it had to be released on its own merits. Now yes, this would lock down things, help prevent hacking since its less that could go wrong. Since Dayz is just a mod to Arma 2, you have more areas to cover and fix. Nothing wrong with it going stand alone, even possibly on consoles.

Beans for your semitroll, sir. (that's what I would call it) :D

Btw, I shoved my money in my router. It's quicker cause it doesnt have to go through all the hardware.

Peace.

SD.

I love when people reference dayz to hl, tf2, and cs... it really shows how much potential dayz has atm.

More fun when they refer it to L4D

Why do people think that standalone is magically going to fix cheating?

It won't fix it but it will reduce it to the point of where it's a minor annoyance that pops up once in a while instead of several times a day.

The main problem for the mod is that the features of the game it's based ie the scripting are what make mission editing and creating custom content so awesome for ARMA 2 but make it so easy to cheat in DayZ.

When it's standalone kiddies won't be able to run any scripts like they do now, instead they will have to rely on someone to make a dedicated hack for the game. This is much more time consuming and easier to detect and block.
