gear + rightclick?

Well, I'm very new to DayZ and also Arma II, my friends have been helping me out but I can't heal myself with bandage or eat/drink anything.

I've tried every single way to make it work but this is how I've been told how to do it:

1. Press up the gear by "g".

2. move your mouse over to the right side at the bandage (next to magazines and so on).

3. rightclick on the bandage.

If I'm doing something wrong please tell me, I need help ASAP!

3. right click on a bandage

4. left click on a use bandage option

Nothing comes up as I right click on the bandage.
