Vehicle thermal image?

I have seen videos in youtube where people are using L85A2 AWS, and in these videos, all vehicles have a high thermal image and I assume it is because they were just recently driven. Do they always show up hot or will the vehicles cool over time?

So much fail in this thread.

They're completely black/purple if they haven't been driven in a while. They heat up to white almost immediately after starting them though.

Even bicycles will be dark until someone has driven them around a bit.

Roads also heat up in thermal if a car has driven over them recently.
