Why wont my flashlight work?

I do everything right (so i think) after watching a few YT vids to see what i was doing wrong but my flashlight just wont work

Any help gents?

have it equipped

press L to turn it on

make sure it's nighttime

it bugs out sometimes just put it back in the toolbelt then remove from toolbelt again. well he said he watched videos so he knows the basics of it.

Yeah on top of what Naizarak said, it also takes your pistol slot. so make sure you don't have a pistol in the slot. Also if you have a main weapon press ; (semicolon default) to switch weapons.

Thanks for the replies guys but i have tried that all, my flashlight just wont work :-(

I haven't remapped my controls apart from my wasz to move around and changed prone to d

Ahh. Make sure L is assigned to 'headlights' in your menu. You might also want crouch assigned?

Default Z X C for prone - crouch - stand is good enough.

Checked that it is but still wont work, figuring its just glitched for me :-(

I have found that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I think it may be server based? Because it works for me on some but not on others.

It doesn't work if your FPS is too low. Look straight down at the ground so that your FPS improves temporarily, then your L key will start working again...
