How to NOT execute an ambush

This happened 2 days ago

After having acquired a UAZ my 3 mates and I decided to head towards our recon route and look for helicopter crash sites

Since we "acquired" the UAZ(we shot the admin and his friend in the head) down at the coast we headed north starting from Elektro

When we passed Topolka Dam our driver noticed a corpse lying on the street

We are the last ones to let a corpse remain unlooted, so we stopped next to it and one of our SAW gunners dismounted to investigate

Suddenly we hear silenced gunshots impacting on the ground next to us

Fuck! I knew something was wrong!...Oh well....dismount, regroup, fight back

Basically we had Topolka dam to our left and the hill to our right, with us standing in the middle of the bloody road

One guy in a camo suit was lying in a bush next to the street and 3 of his buddies were scattered around on the southern part of the forest to our right

After sprinting into the forest and taking cover we pushed for a counterattack

The guy in the bush was quickly mowed down by our 2 SAW gunners and they continued to suppress the enemy force in the forest

Got shot multiple times, if it wasn't for the suppressed ammo dealing less damage I would've been dead

White screen didn't make it easier for me to use my EOTech(which has a lot of white sun glare compared to the CCO sight when looking in the wrong direction)

Yeah....the direction of the forest was the wrong direction...I basically looked at a white square infront of my face, no enemy in sight

I took out my M203 and started firing HE grenades down range in an attempt to hit somebody

After what seemed like an eternity my mates finally called out that the last one of the maggots were done

If it wasn't for our sheer volume of fire we would've all been dead

My buddy gave me a transfusion and we went in to loot the corpses, we double tapped them for good measures

Just when we were about to loot the first guy I saw another survivor popping up in the tree 50m SW of me, armed with an AK74

2 M203 HE later and he was done, wrong place wrong time - he could've easily cut us down in the middle of the loot frenzy though

End results of this exciting 4v4(+1) encounter:

5 enemies KIA

0 friendlies KIA

Minor injuries which were easily fixed with a blood transfusion and some meaty steaks

1x AS50

3x Rangefinder

3x NVG

2x Satchel Charge

3x Coyote Backpack

2x M9 SD

2x Camo Suit

1x Ghillie Suit

2x AK74

I have no idea why they didn't use the AS50 against us, it was located in one of the backpacks

This was either a very poorly executed ambush or we happened to stumble across them while they were guarding the corpse of a fallen buddy

We took half of the stuff in our car and buried the bodies so the remaining gear would not fall into their hands again

And off we went into the north

Sounds similar to what happened to my buddies and I around the same area, just north of the dam. We crossed the road (We were headed to Mogilevka to meet up with a buddy) and some guy just starts shooting what I am pretty sure was an M16 of some flavor, and then we heard the cannon go off. After we headed into the woods and up the hill a bit, we waited em out until they crossed the road right where we came from. Unfortunately for them, we were actually decent shots, and I managed to take out the guy with the M107 with my AK after some maneuvering - but the guy with the M16 alt-F4'd like a baby.

At least those guys you were dealing with didn't Alt-F4. :)

Squad fights have a tendency to not be a battle of who can AltF4 the fastest

Simply because you end up with multiple corpses to loot/guard, noone wants to abort in a firefight just so the enemy can loot his fallen comrade

So far I've only had one 2vs6 where my friend and I basically struck a hornets nest of ghosting with a goddamn baseball bat

It was like fighting ninjas, you saw one appear in a bush, engaged him, and away he went, just so he could reappear again in another location

lol. I must just have bad juju then in regards to such things. Most people who shoot at me even with a handful of people usually tend to Alt-F4 when I start shooting back.
