daspope 146 Posted August 17, 2012 What do you guys use?I wam sick of Windows Live Movie Maker's limitations, I dont have the time nor patience to learn Adobe Premier/After Effects, and I would prefer to not move the video files over to my mac anyway, I would just assume use iMovie at that point.Soooo....I am wondering if any of you can recomend a free/cheap video editing suite that is as easy or easier than Movie Maker/iMovie but has slightly more or better features.Features for manipulating soundtracks would be nice also, but not really needed as Adobe Audition is easy enough to use to do what I need. binaryman010011 8 Posted August 17, 2012 I have a dual boot setup on my pc with Windows on one partition and Ubuntu on the other. Kdenlive is a decent free video editor for linux. It does have a few bugs, just save often. I realize that may not be the answer you were looking for, but I thought it worth a mention anyway. I haven't looked into it, but I want to say that Blender has a built in video editor. Don't quote me on that though. Good luck!

clever 12 Posted August 17, 2012 Just pirate a video editing software if you're desperate to get something good. Most good video editing software are pretty expensive from what I've seen.

daspope 146 Posted August 17, 2012 Just pirate a video editing software if you're desperate to get something good. Most good video editing software are pretty expensive from what I've seen.I have the money to buy tools I use.As an independant software/web developer I would rather people not pirate my software. I have Adobe master collection legitimately for web dev/design needs, but Adobe premier is waaaay more than what I need and I dont want to invest the time in learning it since I am not going to be producing cinematic trailers or editing full length features. I am talking 5-20 minute youtube videos. All I need is something easy to use and quick to "pick up and go" I dont need 500 silders to get the coloring of the video just right. binaryman010011 8 Posted August 17, 2012 (edited) Here's an example tutorial of Kdenlive hosted by NixiePixel :)Blender does have a Video Sequence Editor, but it has what looks like a massive learning curve.Under linux, there is also PiTiVi which is more stable but less featured than Kdenlive Edited August 17, 2012 by binaryman010011
