Real living forest - Birds, foot prints, twigs etc.

Hey guys, I was thinking for quite a while about the limited ways of surviving in the forests, unless you manage to find lots of cows, sheep, goats, etc. you might get unlucky and get in the red out in the middle of nowhere.

I was thinking that if there was a way to shoot birds, make it so that some forests or trees in particular have nesting birds that you can shoot and gut too.

The other side of this I was considering was that if you run in a forest and pass a load of birds that you have a chance to startle them, giving away your position to anyone in the area. :o

Also you could maybe find birds nests for eggs etc. :thumbsup: :beans:

On another side note I thought that if people walk around near rivers or streams that they could leave footprints for a short time so that any hunter might pick up a trail etc.

For rabbits I was thinking that if they had burrows that you could be given the option to light a fire in the opening at one end and them the rabbits would run put the other side.

And last but not least I thought that fishing might be an idea at some stage. A collapsible rod could be a nice addition to the survival tools and if you could get nets and pots as 1 use items like wire kits and tank traps that you could use them in rivers and lakes and retrieve them at another time. :D

Oh and why in gods name can you not drink at a lake without a bottle? :huh: You should have the option to drink at any lake regardless of what if any equipment you have.

Any feed back or additional ideas would be welcome :D

Shoot Birds: Ok, I like it. Maybe get a 1/2 meat from it. like 400 blood... Not bad.

Startling birds: I don't like that! Too hard to avoid.

Rabbits: You can already shoot em, the burrows sounds too complicated to me

Footprints: I don't see why not but they wouldn't last long and wouldnt really tell you anything.

Drinking: YES! It is dumb that you can't cup your hand and drink from lake, pond, river.

Fishing: I like it but who needs a pot, just jam a slice on the end of your knife and cook it on fire like a real man! lol. We have a left over slot in the tool belt too since radios arent in game.

All in all good ideas, have some beans!

I really wanna a way to track my prey (other humans) is away there, but fade so fast, that is useless, and only show in roads (or car make cloud of dusty)

I meant a pot trap, the same as fishermen use to trap lobster and shrimp etc.

I kind of picture it as something you could find by coastal industrial buildings and then use it to set it up for a set period of time, say leave it for an hour or 30 mins and you get 1-3 fish, 3-4 hours and 4-6 fish. etc. It should be reusable in my mind and could be used in any water source.

It would require a fair bit of coding etc but I think it would be a pretty cool thing to happen across, you come to a river looking to refill your water-bottles and then you see this line coming out of the water, "Yoink" free fish! You could leave it and wait for the owner, or just take it with you etc.

Picture this, your caught out in the rain, its getting really heavy, your temperature is dropping and you have no heat pack.

So, you head to the nearest town or village and as your about to head into a building you look at the floor of the entrance and you see "DUN DUN DUN!!!"

Wet Foot Prints...

Someone else, is in the building...

"Queue Dramatic close-up" :o

And to my mind that's just one possibility.

It would be easy to code I'd say once the stand alone has its feet under itself. :thumbsup:

fishing would be great!! also when the game comes up if they do different maps

they could add like hardcore have foot prints and make it so you can track and what not.

While playing last night I noticed that when it rains you leave footprints on the road but they don't last very long. Would be nice if for say 10-15 minutes after it has stopped raining, if you walk on any kind of dirty surface and then onto a road or tarmac surface, footprints get left behind for a certain amount of time, say 10 minutes for example. This way it could be helpful because if you see footprints then you know someone has recently been around, but may or may not still be there. The fact that some kind of footprint already shows on a wet road leads me to believe that there is something already in the engine for it, so I can't imagine it would be too difficult to actually implement... although I may be totally wrong.
