RaysGoodLiquor 93 Posted August 17, 2012 Gentlemen...I've been playing the game for about a month now, and have dumped quite a few hours. I've experienced numerous aspects of the game, and only have a couple more goals to achieve (helicopter sad face). I've played both ends of the humanity scale, and on Chenarus, I prefer to be helpful, simply because the massive threat scripters cause. It's nice to see bandits and survivors on the same side for at least 1 cause. Either or, I get the banditing out of my system on Lingor, and have decided to try my hand at being a medic. I understand the gist of the job description, but I'm in need of tips to consistently store/gather medical equipment, avoid death by other players, travel effectively if server hopping, and general medicocity (real word?). I've picked up that smarter bandits won't always kill someone using a PVE directed weapon, but that's about the best I've done.
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted August 17, 2012 (edited) Always use the Wasteland thread to pick up patients, there's less chance of being shot. Also, set up a few individual tents across the map. Fill them with medical gear. It's pretty low risk because if someone finds them they're most likely to just take a few bits and not really clear you out. Also, use the hospital in Berizino to get your supplies, it's by far the safest hospital to raid. Good luck. Edited August 17, 2012 by Fraggle

RaysGoodLiquor 93 Posted August 17, 2012 Any suggestions as to what to say over com? Asking friendly always gets me shot, and saying I have blood gets me shot a little less.
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted August 17, 2012 (edited) Check this thread here:http://dayzmod.com/f...ce-we-can-help/People will post up their requests here and you can offer to give them assistance. Some people won't accept your offer unless your Whitelisted but many will. Just tell them your an aspiring medic or even better put it on your signature. I enjoy it because there's no commitment, it's completely voluntary. With that in mind, you'll also get some people that get very demanding as if they've paid for your services. I tell them to piss off.Sometimes I travel with a spotter/sniper which makes it much safer but I still often travel alone too. I've made a couple of good friends by doing it and also been in some of the most tense firefights I've had while on mission. Basically, it's good fun. tad@tadshackles.com 75 Posted August 17, 2012 Don't blindly approach someone who is bleeding and try to help.Find people in the forums who are asking for help and go to themOR hide nearby and use direct chat - say "Hey im a medic, you're bleeding, I won't hurt you. Do you need help?"If someone who is bleeding kills u after that, they are a HUGE dick!
+Ben+ 70 Posted August 18, 2012 Any suggestions as to what to say over com? Asking friendly always gets me shot, and saying I have blood gets me shot a little less. With regards to comms i find it best to simply state that your a medic over direct chat, text or voice, although voice would be better probably. I had an occasion where i was at the factory looking for parts with a couple of other medics and someone logged in in the centre of the ground floor. I was on the floor above and just said that we were medics over voice direct comms and that we would do him no harm and not to shoot at us. Sya covered him as i left the building and we thanked him for not giving us any trouble as we drove away. TBH though i think the warning shots from Sya's MK48 probably scared him a bit too, that thing is loud as f**k :D So yea, always use a mic if you can, trying to stop and type is a right pain in the testicles. Askar 177 Posted August 18, 2012 Announce that you're a medic any time you think you're near players. Chances are, most of them are just jumpy and won't kill someone who calls himself a medic and lowers his weapon. There's always dicks and bandits, but I've avoided being shot many times simply by typing/saying in direct chat that I'm a medic and that I can help.
