griffbird 6 Posted August 16, 2012 So I got dayz and Ive already done alot to try and fix the lag without spending money, Im not good with computers but i think these are the specs for my laptop:CPU: Intel Pentium P610015.6 HD LED LCDIntel HD Graphics4 GB DDR3 (If this is the RAM I now have 8 GB)500 GB HDDDVD-Super Multi DL driveAcer Nplify 802.11b/g/n6-cell Li-ion batterIm wondering if upgrading my parts will help improve my gameplay to where it will run smoothy, if anyone knows what I should upgrade and can tell me that would be helpful, understand I dont know if these are my exact specs, so im probly missing some stuff I do have.Plus I dont care about the graphic quality of the game, I already have put all that stuff as low as it can go and/or disabled them. Also Im not looking for a new thousand dollar gaming pc so if thats your solution dont post anything plz! BlazeN'Chronic 51 Posted August 17, 2012 the only option is really an external mod... its almost impossible to put in a better GPU with a integrated graphics card... its tighter for space in there than a cows ass in fly season..
griffbird 6 Posted August 17, 2012 how much would an external mod cost? Also wats an external mod???
Lamethrower 3 Posted August 17, 2012 An external mod would be impractical and possibly expensive as well as potentially voiding any warranty you may have on it. I would probably just invest in building a stand alone PC or save up for a laptop with more dedicated graphics hardware. The intel HD graphics just don't cut it. The laptop you have is seems like it's simply not designed for high level gaming, more of a general purpose/media laptop. The best you could do it chuck in more RAM and migrate to an SSD without any modifications but the performance gained from that is still questionable. griffbird 6 Posted August 17, 2012 well Im only planning to play the dayz mod not any other PC games if that changes any of your opinions
Lamethrower 3 Posted August 17, 2012 Even with DayZ alone, you would need a pretty big step up with your graphics processor. Your cpu should be fine being a dual core but there is no real way of installing a GPU inside the case of the laptop, hence the external modification suggestion. If you are not super tech savvy or familiar with computer modding I would probably avoid such a solution.
griffbird 6 Posted August 17, 2012 i guess im gonna avoid that solution then -_-
griffbird 6 Posted August 17, 2012 is there any other solutions anyone can think of? other then buying an entire computer?
Lamethrower 3 Posted August 17, 2012 I would suggest (if you plan on sticking to laptops) to invest a little more money into an upgrade if you plan on doing so. Probably something that has 4xxm or 5xxm nvidia graphics hardware to get some decent performance.
griffbird 6 Posted August 17, 2012 ok, how would i tell if those are compatible for my laptop?
griffbird 6 Posted August 17, 2012 well thx for all the help anyways if anyone else posts i appreciate it
Lamethrower 3 Posted August 17, 2012 Sorry I'm at work. What I meant by upgrade was upgrading to a new laptop. I would look for dedicated graphics chips in a new laptop.
griffbird 6 Posted August 17, 2012 oh if we buy anything new like that its going to be a gaming PC not a laptop

griffbird 6 Posted August 17, 2012 plus wtf is the beans thing about???
Lamethrower 3 Posted August 17, 2012 It looks like the best way to go. Keep in mind that a $1000PC will usually get you much more performance than a $1000Laptop but it never hurts to have extra horse power anyway.
