Going To The Toilet?

Recommended Posts

So Something I noticed on my endless marathon's from being constantly respawned at the coast...I need to drink and eat roughly twice for every 10,000m I run. I can camp in a field or wherever all day long and as long as I have food and drink I'm good...yet I never need to pass waste. Like ever.

What is this bs! I thought we playing in a mod that thrive's on being as real as possible, albeit in a zombie apocalypse.

So I think we need a Bathroom mechanic...you know something that let's you know when your bladder and bowels are full and need...emptying. And if you're a dirty bugger, or too scared to leave your little camp spot then you should have to pay consequences for...messing your pants...maybe a possibility of infection or crotch rot from being in soiled undies, or maybe catching a cold from being in wet drawers.

So I say let's make use of these outside lavatories and bushes...maybe you'll need to collect toilet paper from the supermarket or residential houses or even itchy leaves from forest...

You could squat in a bush or the outside lavvy and make some...interesting noises whilst doing the deed...if people are nearby they could hear you...

Maybe I've drunk too much of my own alcohol fueled wee but what say you?

great idea bear but why not add a feature where we can refill our water bottles with our own golden stream? this needs to be added imo.

I'm going to assume you're joking, but in case you're not.. it's possible to take the realism too far. Otherwise, I propose a counter suggestion. Breathe in and out. You have to alternately press + and - all the time you are in game or you will asphyxiate and die. You have to bash 'em quicker if you're running.

i already have to go to the bathroom in real life and leave my character on the server. Dangerous enough :D

let me explain the problem with this. All the other meters display danger. If you don't eat you can die, if you don't drink you can die, etc. If you don't take a shit the worst thing that can happen is you shit yourself...so what?... you smell a little that's basically it. Same with peeing.

Wouldn't it be beautiful in the middle of an intense firefight to see guys, and girls, run for the treeline lest they shit themselves? Possibly even have an accident after being scared by zombies jumping out and chasing your character? new drawers please!

The possibilities for toilet shenanigans are endless!

Yes, but that's what I'm saying...there should be consequences for soiling yourself...maybe not dire but consequences nevertheless.

Yes I agree you can take things too far but this is a game where you have to eat and drink in order to stay alive. It's only reasonable that you should have to 'pass' that food and drink too. There's outside lavatories in the game. Let's put them to some proper use.

Helicopter Hunter, I know you're using reductio ad absurdum to make pee/poo breaks sound ridiculous since breathing is quite obviously an involuntary function of your body, but the fact is that this sim _does_ take breathing into account... if you run hard or far then your guy can't aim properly and breathes hard (making noise, giving away your position). You obviously don't need to do anything to pump your heart or force yourself to breathe, but it effects the game as it should for a realistic sim.

As for bio-breaks, if you are in a combat environment, you are going to have to pee and/or poo sometimes and that action puts you in a very precarious situation. Anyone who was in the Army or Marines will happily tell you that you need to empty your tank _before_ you get into the thick of battle... one of the not-so-publicized side effects of getting shot and/or shot at is shitting yourself.

Just think about this from this game's standpoint... say you enter a city nice and quiet, trying to avoid pissing off every zombie for miles, and realize about 5 minutes into your hospital raid mission that you need to take a leak. What do you do? Most likely you're going to have to get a friend to cover you while you find a good spot to relieve yourself (somewhere that won't make very loud spattering sounds like concrete will). Even worse would be if you let your poo situation get too far advanced and end up needed to take a combat dump... then you're in real trouble.

A lot of people want to over-complicate this mechanic, but I would like to recommend a simple system. Your pee/poo meters would fill slowly, faster the more you eat, and once they reach the halfway full mark you can void your waste. If you are running long distances or exerting yourself a lot, your water gets burned through sweat so your pee would fill slower, and eating certain things might delay or hasten the requirement for a bowel movement.

If you happen to let things get too far advanced, your AI character will take over for you and take a leak or dump right where he is, no matter what's going on around him.... if you gotta go, you gotta go!

Also, for everyone that recommends drinking their own urine... yes, you CAN do this, urine is sterile, but it will NOT save your life in a survival situation. Here's a nice link for you to read on the matter: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urophagia#Sodium_content_and_dehydration

and if the wiki isn't a good enough source for you, try the Army field manual:
