Allie (DayZ) 97 Posted August 16, 2012 M1911 :) Can use both ammo for M1911 and 45 revolver, so twice the amount of ammo to find for.
sir_renzo 0 Posted August 16, 2012 i just dropped the 1911 so thats also an option, but it can't use my revolver rounds?
Sephka (DayZ) 51 Posted August 16, 2012 (edited) As far as I know there's absolutely no reason to take the M9 over the G17. G17 clips have more ammo, and the G17 can use both G17 and M9 ammo clips. Keep the G17, take the M9 clip. Headshot zombies all day and not have to worry about ammo. Also, don't listen to that guy about the M1911. It was a great gun before the nerf, but now pistols are only good for zombie killing. If they're only good for zombie killing, you're best taking the quietest pistols with the highest ammo counts. IMO the best pistols are as follows:M9 SD > PDW > G17 > M9 > Everything else. Edited August 16, 2012 by Sephka
Flip4Flap 8 Posted August 16, 2012 With the nerf, I would go G17 anyway. You got a lamp to blind your friends, you have some nice magazine capacity wich is great as you are doing/trying HS most of the time.17 shots, 17 kills... Well, I wish.. Skillz is an other problem :)
Allie (DayZ) 97 Posted August 16, 2012 Its still a bit weird tho, a pistol round and a revolver round are normally not interchangable.revolver rounds do have a rim, pistol rounds have a little groove instead of a rim.So in real live they are not interchangeable.Weird, because bullets from for example a Mp5 are the same as the bullets of any 9mm automatic pistol, why are they not interchangable ? Allie (DayZ) 97 Posted August 16, 2012 Ok cool didnt know the g17 and m9 have interchangable ammo, nice to know.
Unibek 2 Posted August 16, 2012 G17 hands down. The clips for it are everywhere, even more common then the M1911 clips. I wasn't aware that you could use revolver rounds in the M1911 though...The only pistol I would take over the G17 is the M9 SD
void.false@gmail.com 300 Posted August 16, 2012 Eh... Guys, you don't know there's a way to circumvent the nerf? ;)

Sephka (DayZ) 51 Posted August 16, 2012 They are interchangeable in the game though.. If you have a PDW, it uses M9, M9 SD, G17, PDW, MP5 and MP5 SD mags. Pretty useful. I'm not 100% sure but I imagine the MP5 functions the same way, able to use all of those as well.
Banicks 55 Posted August 16, 2012 (edited) G17 no doubt. Depending where you look ammo is quite common, inbuilt flashlight, and high mag count. Most experienced people know 1 shot kills to the head and to limit locational echo. Additionally, it is bloody quiet I've found recently giving a good incentive to upgrade from starter pistols to the higher teir ones. bigAPE 20 Posted August 16, 2012 (edited) Of the M9 and Glock, I'd take the Glock. Only because the ammo is more plentiful in the game and it has a tactical light.Of all sidearms in the game I disagree with most here. I would always go for the PDW. It accepts mags from almost all other handguns bar the .45's (1911 and Revolver)The M9 SD is a dream come true specifically for crash site raids but sadly the ammo is as rare as hens teeth. Use until you can get a PDW. Edited August 16, 2012 by bigAPE
