Getting full off of food?

Recommended Posts

So I hear now n' then players complaining that it's to easy to get you health/blood back to 100% by eating food, mainly cooked meats. I'm not sure if this is new, but eating canned food also gets your health up too. So if player want to make a solution to players eating meat on the battle field or in a fire fight, than why not make it so you player can only eat so much? Realistically you wouldn't eat 7 cans of food in 10 minutes as I just did.

Thanks for your time,

CZ~

I dunno, I've been pretty hungry before, even gone a few days on very little food.......

But in all seriousness, you make a good point. Seems akin to using or finding a health pack to bounce right back to life.

Yeah I've often thought the same thing. It would be interesting if you tried to eat too much it would just come up with "you aren't hungry" and wouldn't eat.

I admit I've raided a super market or two and just eaten everything there to restore my health but it would be more challenging and satisfying having to rest or get that blood transfusion to raise health.

Well personally I've never really had seven cans of food and I don't think someone would honestly sit there in a fight-fight eating canned food as it gives back so little blood.

I do know what you mean about cooked meat, but to be fair that's the only chance someone has of restoring blood at a reasonable rate, without having to go get a blood transfusion and then can not be an option for some players, so that would put them at a disadvantage and that isn't really fair.

just make it so you can only eat 5 cans of food or cooked meat every 10 minuits. (5 is pretty realistic, i know i could get through that while i was hungry, yet alone starving to death.)

I support this. It really takes away from the authenticity.

The removal of the ability to regain blood on one's own might very well force players to interact more and depend on each other. I wouldn't call the encouragement of friendly player interaction 'unfair'.

Restricting the amount of food/time that can be consumed, while maintaining the ability to 'selfheal' some blood would be a nice middle ground between gameplay convenience and authenticity and imo to be preferred to the current state.

Now, if only we had the need and mechanics to eliminate as well (standalone only ofc)...having to take a dump during a firefight, infections might come with diarhea, etc....the more I think about it, the more I come to like this idea, actually...

This is supposed to be an anti-game, right? And I remember being able to take an ingame piss as far back as Duke Nukem 3D - now make me have to do it...xD

"So, uh, I've noticed that these guys who barely heal anything at all can still heal themselves. Can we please nerf them, they aren't dying easily enough. And while we're at it can we randomly have them fall dead for no reason just because I'd like that?"

Tell you what. Only one blood transfusion every half hour.

It's called authenticity. Afaik, it's not supposed to be your typical survival horror game ala resident evil. The formulaic gameplay element of 'healing' doesn't have to aplly here imo.

Bloodbags 'healing' bullet wounds already puts some strain on the suspension of disbelief and if you get a bullet to the head, no steak will save you anyway, not even in the current game. I wouldn't call the removal of 'eat 2 whole cows to go from he brink of death to as good as new in less than a minute' gamebreaking, if you catch my drift.

Yeah I play alone a lot and I fully understand. I never have a chance to use blood bags...

There's actually an entire thread on blood regeneration replacing the current system of food replenishing blood (also, blood packs would lose a lot of their healing potential to balance things out).. You should probably get in on that/dig it up because that seems like something you'd get behind.
