How to use your flashlight?

This is probably really stupid but I could not for the life of me find in the controls menu the key to use your flashlight.

I finally found a flashlight sadly, could not figure out how to use it. The controls menu is extremely confusing. so many controls that I doubt Ill memorize them all, which kinda scares me since ill probably need a specific control in a moments notice and wont know it.

So for now, how do you pull out your flashlight or other "gear" items?

You have to right click it on the inventory screen and select "move from tools". It will take your pistol spot. Select it with the wheel and press "L".

Keep in mind that the flashlight is visible from further away than one can possible imagine, so use it very rarely and for short periods of time.

There is another flashlight called "Military" one, which gives red light. Much less visible.

While using a flash, you can not use a pistol, though, so ideally you want to either use a weapon that has a flashlight on it (like the pistol G17) or replace it with some other way of finding yourself in the dark.

Right click and remove from tool belt. Then you can toggle on and off with the L key. Same with the hatchet also. Additionally with the hatchet you have to hit R to reload it for some reason.

Thanks. Is there a way to quickly re-arm a weapon if I have to rather than stopping to go the menu?

Don't you still have to clear those weapon slots to use the flashlight or axe moving the weapons to bp or droping them first?

You have to reload it because Arma 2 doesn't have melee weapons. The "axe" is actually a gun.
